Is it ok for a 4-5 month old baby to travel a long flight?

I've flown with babies several times, and twice from the US to Poland. The bassinet was helpful when I had it, but mostly my baby would wake up if I tried to move her there. In all cases, bring plenty of toys that are new to the baby and will keep them occupied. Even for a baby that young. And as someone said, feeding them during altitude changes is imperative. Mine were all still nursing when we flew and I used a baby sling to hold them close. For the most part they were just fine. The worst to travel with is a toddler...they want to walk everywhere!

Little babies don't know to swallow or tug on their earlobes to release the pressure in their ears. I've heard that one trick is to ensure they're nursing or sucking on something (bottle, #######, few licks of a lollipop) during takeoff to ease the pressure.
