Does anyone recommend whose the best for medical insurance? This will be totally new to me for when I arrive in the States. I havent got a bloody clue about it lol.

My fiance has 3 kids, so is it better for everyone to be all on the same insurance or is individual best?

Any tips and ifo on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

It is better to be under your fiance's plan (and also cheaper!).

He should be able to have you and your kids signed up under his work's insurance plan as soon as you get married. :)

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

I will go onto my fiancé's insurance plan as soon as we're married, but until then I've got temporary cover through these guys: http://www.americanvisitorinsurance.com/

be aware that travel insurance will not cover you, so if you're in the States for more than a day or two before getting married you won't be covered :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Question....has anyone had problems getting your spouse onto their insurance? My issue right now is we are waiting for Nicky's SS#, and that might take some time. However, my company only gives 30 days to get in the Family Status Change form...after that I have to wait until next year's benefits enrollment to put him on my insurance. That leaves a good 6 months. I contacted HR and I'm waiting to hear back from them if I can get him on my insurance and as soon as I have the SS# give it to them...but I am curious about other people's experiences.

We were able to get my wife onto my company's insurance before she got a SSN -- actually before she even entered the country! (That was their way of making sure that any pre-existing conditions would be covered.) It turned out that my company's insurance company did not use SSN as the ID number for covered individuals. Therefore, it wasn't necessary to have a SSN to be covered in the first place.

She still doesn't have a SSN and a number of claims (dental, minor surgery, doctor visits) have been covered.
