I went today to the aos interview and they approved my green card,

but they said that it's going to be valid for 2 years, after that I'll have to apply for the final green card.

Is that normal? I have never heard of a temporary green card before.

Yep! You will have to submit a I-751 [apply to remove conditions] within a 90 day period BEFORE the expiration of your 2 year [temporary] GC. You will then get a 10 year green card if nyou qualify.

It is actually called a conditional green card. As Haole suggested, you will need to apply to remove conditions at least 90 days before the card expires to stay a legal permanent resident. I assume your were married less than two years when the green card was approved.
