What do the fficial processing times mean?

Hi all,

Hope you can help me understand the actual meaning of the official processing dates listed on the USCIS website.

What is the chance for them to process application dated after the published dates and if so what range of dates is normal.

Example: My I 751 was received in Feb 2008 .CSC published that on May 15 they were processing applications form Nov 2007. Can I expect any change soon or am I looking into at least another few months of waiting?

I have generally found the VJ timelines to be more realistic in terms of expectations. The USCIS timelines publish the OLDEST case they are currently processing.

Imagine a case where there are several RFEs and a visa overstay and a divorce without a final decree etc....that case is going to take a while especially if these things are not responded to quickly. In the mean time USCIS does continue working with other cases. So their oldest case might be 1/06 but the continued working so they are processing cases from 2/08. Since the 1/06 still has not been decided, thats the date they list on the website.

Hard to tell really. I noticed your case was transferred from NSC to CSC, as was mine last month. Take a look at my signature so you can see when I filed and when I got my 10 year card. The processing times for CSC don't hold much weight, at least for those of us who were transferred from Nebraska. I didn't even look at it because it wasn't accurate lately. Sorry I can't offer you any more help than this!!
