Hello VJs...

I am getting married this weekend and we are working now in the papers we need to file for AOS...so I have a question:

Do i need to have another medical examination in US? I arrived a month ago and I am withing the 12 months since my medical examination at Peruvian Embassy for my K1 Visa.

We are not sure if I have to ask for an appointment and have the same examination again. Since i already had the vaccinations and exams for HIV, Tb , etc.... i dont know if i need to have them again... The US Embassy in Peru had the results in a 'mysterious' envelope that i gave up at the port of entry and as far as i know they sent it to USCIS...

Help please...

Thanks...

Kemerly

If you had your medical exam less than 12 months ago you should be fine. In the worst case they'll send you a RFE.

We went to INS doctor in Waco this morning..I had my vacination sheet (that they gave me in my medical examination before interview) and I took a receipt from that medical examination also(so I can prove that physical is not older than a year)..I asked them to complete I693A form so we can file for AOS...But doctor said that since 1 of May they do not complete I693A any more, they do I693...And that I693 is on 3 pages include 2 pages for physical report...

Now we are online on uscis website trying to figure out what to do next...

You could try and explain the civil surgeon that while the I-693 has been updated and no information from medical procedures completed after 5/01/2008 can be completed on an older version of the form, the process for checking vaccine history and transcribing that history onto I-693 appendix A (I-693a) has not changed since July 2003, as per the Center for Disease Control's instructions, specifically Technical Instructions to Civil Surgeons for Vaccination Requirements.

Failing that, try another civil surgeon.

I was a k3 visa holder, when we filed my aos, we never do any medical again coz we did it already during my visa process and like you its good for 1 year. what we do submit is the vaccination record and thats all. i had my interview just last may 8, 2008 for my aos and during the interview my medical has expired already. it expired last november of 2007. But they never really question it and i never hear any question about medical during my interview. I don't know why but im glad they never question it.

I know alot of K1 holders who did AOS and didnt need full physical because they did one just before an interview date!!!

I didnt expecting to do one too( thats why I got receipt from Medical Center),but the INS doctor in Waco told us that they DO NOT DO I693A NO MORE...I693 AND I693A IT IS A SINGLE PACKAGE THAT IS NOW DONE AS ONE.

We called another INS doctor in Austin, she said the same thing...She said since I dont have a copy of my physical results(usually K-1 holders dont have copy of physical results, its only in yellow immigration packet which we have to give in POE) I need to do a skin test, and if it will be positive I will have to do chest X-Ray...And they need all K-1 holders do the same thing since 1 of May...
