First of all Detroit has three POE's.. Windsor tunnel, Ambassador bridge & Wayne County Metropolitan (DTW) airport. When you say Detroit, are you referring to one or all?

I think if you re-read what you are reacting to the poster qualified it with "routinely"...

I'm going through Detroit Wayne County Metro...do you just have to ask for it as you go through immigration?

JFK is the most consistent, the others I have seen are hit or miss.

Just received Tanya's EAD when she came through on 4/8/08 so yes they do do it at ATL.

To the OP:

Given that you are Canadian, I presume you came to the USA via a land POE, so someone entering the US via airplane may not be afforded the same service that you were.

It would be more helpful if you could tell us the specific POE through which you entered in Detroit as that state does have more than one.

As far as I know, JFK is the only airport POE that routinely issues the temp EAD stamp.
