I was wondering when I go to the Embassy to get the affidavit to marry would it help if my wife to be comes? I have heard that its not a big deal and that its just to get a paper saying that you are not married in the US.

if ur single in US, u don't need to prove that u are single.. but if you married before, you should provide divorce decree..

Letter of intent.. you don't need to notarized it.. just a plain letter telling that you are willing to marry your fiancee within 90 days of her entry in the USA., she need her letter of intent too, same purpose..

But im not sure if you really need this updated letter, coz i was not asked for this during my interview.. but btter to have it just in case they will ask for updated letter of intent.

Are you planning to get married here in Phils and apply for K3? If yes, then you really need to get Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage in the USEM. That paper states that you are free to get married and it is one of the requirements if you will get married here in Phil. You can not get married without that paper.

No she doesn't have to come with you. Just bring your passport and the cash for the fee. ( I think it was about $30 when I did it.) You will swear to a consul that you can legally get married. The whole thing takes about one to two hours depending how busy they are.

The Affidavit of Legal Capacity to Marry are only done from 8 am to 10 am. It is best to arrive at the Embassy by 7 AM. Then there is a ten working day delay after you file for the Marriage Certificate (MC) before you can get married in the Phils. The MC must be filed in the bride/groom's Local Civil Registry (City Hall).
