Hi folks,

I have a particular question pertaining to USCIS approval date vs. the last date by which one has to enter on k3.

The data:

1. I-129F was approved on April 2008.

2. Interview for 1st week of June 2008

If a person gets approved on June 2008 till when does the person have to enter the USA:

1. if I-129F was approved on April 1st 2008; does the beneficiary have until July 31st 2008 to enter or is it 6 months from the visa being granted.

2. if the beneficiary cannot enter by end of July can the beneficiary request the counsel officer to extend validity of the K3 visa.

what are the criteria for extension of the K3 visa and whats the process to request one? any experiences? esp. Medical related condition preventing travel till end July 2008 - how to request one?

best wishes to everyone

M

The visa is good for 6 months after issue at the consulate.

thanks for the reply, is it printed anywhere on the passport i.e. the last date of entry or the 6 month timeframe to enter?

The expiration date will be printed on the visa when issued. Most K3 visas have a six month validity date, but some Embassies, like Manila, are only giving 90 days. The time frame is six months or three months to enter the USA. If you are married less than two years the visa is extended for two years after the POE date. The new date is on the I-94 stapled to the passport during the POE processing at the airport.

The expiration date will be printed on the visa but for most countries including India, the K3 visa is valid for 24 months from issue, meaning you have 24 months to use the visa. Then the I-94 will expire two years from entry.
