Recently i updated the page on my passport that shows my permanent address... So today i went to have a photocopy of my passport notarized so i could send out our tax forms.. But the notary refused to notarize the copies because I updated my own address!! Even though it says ON THE PAGE "Please fill in particulars below and amend as required." Which i did.. even the webpage for passport Canada says that "If your address changes, ensure that you change the information of Page 4" So now in order to get my passport copy notarized I need a letter from the Passport ppl of Canada stating that this is the correct way to do this!! UGH!!!!! At least i can use other documentation to get my ITIN... bleah what a pain.. now i've wasted a trip into town (we live likek 10 minutes away) just for this and got no where.. sooo annoyed...

end of rant.. thanks i just needed to get that out...

I'd try another notary. If it says there plain as day on the passport - KEEP UP TO DATE, that means change it... and the idiot notary should understand that. When I got my Australian passport they told you to write your address into it IN PENCIL so that you could easily erase it and change it if you moved...

You could always try going to an acceptance agents.

You may also apply using the services of an IRS-authorized Acceptance Agent or visit an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center in lieu of mailing your information to the IRS in Philadelphia. TACs in the United States provide in-person help with ITIN applications on a walk-in or appointment basis.
