$12 Gas and Rationing? Possible, Says Expert

Think $4 a gallon gas is already too much? Then brace yourself, says one expert.

"The prices that we're paying at the pump today are, I think, going to be 'the good old days,' because others who watch this very closely forecast that we're going to be hitting $12 and $15 a gallon, and then, after that, when world oil production goes into decline, we're going to talk about rationing," Robert Hirsch, Management Information Services Senior Energy Advisor, said on CNBC's "Squawk Box." "In other words, not only are we going to be paying high prices and have considerable economic problems, but in addition to that, we're not going to be able to get the fuel when we want it."

England is already paying almost $12 to the gallon, so how much higher is their bloody gas going to go up?, this is all so ridiculous. Everything is getting out of control!:wacko:

In the meantime, we have people squabbling over whether or not Global Warming is real. We've got real environmental issues to deal with and so much potential to use this as way to spark a technology driven economy towards alternative sources.

Speaking of mass transit, I saw the new double decker trains NJ Transit is running for the first time today on a NYC bound train at New Brunswick. Very cool.

Well, technically, if people are so worried gasoline is increasing in price why aren't they conserving? For example, driving at the right speed to get the maximum gas mileage? Nooooo....Noone listens. Everyone likes to complain, "Gas is so expensive! Geezes. what's next?" I think they should ask themselves.

For better or worse, we have evolved into a consumer driven economy, so conservation works against the very nature of the life force of our economy. A solution would need to include transforming our economy into one driven by other forces than consumption.

Time to give up working and retire to the 'burbs with hubby, the furry children, and a little bit of land for a rescue pony. Frankly that sounds a lot better than driving around the city day after day, keeping the corporate cogs turning. Ok I'm sold !

And it's growing... and it goes beyond North Jersey. The River Line connects Trenton to Philly now, too.

I don't really care for how high the gas prices since I drive a hybrid. Doesn't affect me as much. It's the complaint about the prices, esp from the SUV and truck drivers. Learn to conserve for god-sakes. I did. Who else will? Consumer Panicking also leads to price increases in a mafia type market like the cartel, OPEC. ECON 101.
