AOS's father is sick. We received the following email after we requested expedite process:

"Upon receipt of your request for expeditious handling, your case was reviewed and a determination was made that your case was missing initial evidence on 05/20/2008. We will not be able to continue with the processing of your case until this evidence is received. Your case will be held in suspense until we receive your response. You may request expeditious processing again once the Service has received your response."

Do we need to file them the diagnosis? Does it work if it is not in English? Customer service list 6 reasons, and we select medical related one. Did we make the right choice?

Thanks a lot for your input.

Well..it sounds like they need evidence of the illness..I just had my AP expedited because of illness..and there was no problem..If you call the 1800 number..wait for the expedite option..and talk to an actual person, they will beable to tell you exactly what they want!

once they expedite.. they mail it the same day..so you're still looking at 3-7 days until you receive your AP.

Good luck

Thanks, Shawna. Could you please tell me more detail about how did you do it? How did you send the document in?

Fax or mail. Where did you send it? Chicago mailbox or MSC.

I called the info line...and they said they would put in for an expedite..but that would take 5 days..So...I booked an infopass appointment that day..I talked to an officer there, I told him what the problem was(my daughter in Canada is pregnant and was having complications...I didn't have any documentation from the doctor..I wasn't thinking ..I just panicked..anyway..I burst into tears(I think thats what clinched it..to be perfectly honest) The officer than e-mailed the Missouri office to request the expedite.

When I received my expedite e-mail the next morning..it said I met the expedite criteria(I assume the officer told them I had given him proof of illness)

Now..I was also only a week away from being approved..that could have made a difference

If you have not had an infopass appointment..I suggest you book one..and if you can have a doctor fax you over a letter stating whos sick and what the illness is..everything should be fine

good luck..I know how stressful and frustrating this is when a loved one needs you and you can't just go!

again..good luck to you..and please let me know how everything goes

Thanks for your kindness, Shawna.

We are waiting for something from the doctor now. The local office is about 3 hours away and I don't know if fax works.

I will let you know the result.
