Hi everybody!

My question is short: How long did it take to assemble your AOS documents after you got married? A week 2 weeks 2 days? I will appreciate to hear about your personal experience!

My question is short: How long did it take to assemble your AOS documents after you got married? A week 2 weeks 2 days? I will appreciate to hear about your personal experience!

Believe it or not, we filed AOS 6 days after we got married. We got married July 21, Friday. Assembled and worked pn the packet Sat and Sun and then July 24, went to the courthouse to get a certified copy of our marriage certificate. The same day got everything xerox copied for duplicates. Went to a civil surgeon on July 26 and then finish compiling the packet, mailed the package that afternoon. We had to hurry because we wanted to file before the fee hikes took effect which was on July 31. We made it through! IMHO, doing the AOS is so much easier than compiling the K1 application.

You can do all before except the marriage certificate.... So the length of time it takes to get the marriage certificate should be the shortest amount of time possible to submit an AOS package....

We filled out all the paperwork and assembled all the required documents before our wedding. We got married on a Saturday, we asked the judge that married us to give us the marriage certificate after the ceremony, and we took it to the courthouse ourselves on Monday morning. We got our certified marriage certificate in about 10 minutes, put it in the envelope and mailed it.

That way, we could go away on our honeymoon and not worry about the paperwork when we got back.

Remember the package is just a bunch of papers - there is a lot of work involved in getting your spouse's name on the bank accounts, credit card accounts, health insurance, life insurance, lease/rent/mortgage statement, utility bills, photos of you two etc. etc. - so there's a lot of work involved, but if you have done it all from the time your fiance came here, then all you need to do is make copies, do a cover letter and send it in. We got married in March but weren't really in a rush to file for AOS, we only just did it last week.

We moved out of state, she lost her job, I found a new one, we're both going back to school, we had a LOT of life changes!

Like others, we started assembling the package very shortly after he moved here, got married within 2 weeks of his arrival and sent it out about a week after that.

We weren't in a particular hurry. We got married February 26th and submitted AOS application April 1st.

I WAS in a hurry , so I prepared every form before I entered US! There are some factors I had to count...

- In Florida, to get married, we have to wait 3 days after getting marriage certificate.

- I needed one shot at civil surgeon to complete vaccination requirement as well as I-693A.

- In Miami-dade county, we cannot bring back the marriage certificate after ceremony, the person who executed the ceremony should send it to courthouse by mail.

With above "negative" conditions, I filed 2 weeks after US entry, 10 days after marriage. Could be faster if I noticed our wedding certificate was in database faster than I thought...
