Hi everyone! My fiance just got an email from the embassy in Ankara with his interview date. It is July 29th, 2008. We were really hoping it would be a bit sooner. Also, our NOA2 expires on July 12th, 2008 and the Ankara Embassy website states:

"To reschedule an appointment please notify the Embassy immediately by fax, email or mail. Every effort will be made to ensure that a more convenient appointment time is given.

Members of a family who will receive immigrant visas at a similar time, but have received different appointment dates, are encouraged to reschedule their appointments together.

Important note: Many immigrant visa files include documents with validity expiration dates, and most types of administrative processes expire within three months. Please make sure that the administrative process for the applicants will be valid on the new interview date before rescheduling. Also make sure to bring new copies of expired documents to the interview."

The administrative processing date will not be valid for the interview date they gave us, July 29th, 2008. Moreover, I would like to request an earlier interview date for personal reasons. Does anyone have any experience with this? What is the likelihood that they will grant this request and how should I go about requesting?

It is my understanding that the consulates schedule interviews as early as possible. It doesn't hurt to ask and see if they can bump it up.

Good luck.

My NOA2 had expired 3 months before my interview and I had no problems. I didn't even realize it til I was at the interview, but I was never asked to show it at my interview. You can also email them to inform them that your NOA2 is about to expire and they will make note of it and extend it. They won't reschedule your interview just for tha tone reason.

Well, I emailed the embassy - it's worth a shot! If not, it's not the end of the world.

The embassy must be pretty busy as our interview date is scheduled 2.5 months after we sent in packet 3. Or is that normal for other embassies as well?

Crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath!

FYI: I just found this post from another VJ member (last month) whose Turkish fiance will be interviewing in Ankara:

"I emailed the Ankara embassy the same day our interview date was received and politely asked them for an earlier interview. They bumped us up 20 days without even asking for a reason."
