Hello Niceman,

your case is identical as mine, however yesterday I received the letter and the missing document is DS-230. They advise me to go to http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html and download the form and send it to them. This is a pretty good link to give you a better idea of what you need to do. If you have further questions please don't hesitate and wish you all the best

Thank you, your reply makes me releasing panic. I prepared my DS-230. Do you think that I can send my DS-230 packet now or I wait for the letter?

thanks

No problem,

You should wait for the letter because that is going to have a scan-bar-code sheet, which you are going to need to avoid any further delay.

I am so confused. I got the letter this affternoon. It enclosed a bar code page and a list of missing document. Only there is one line in this list: OF-230-I. In this page, they say: "we are still waiting for the Immigrant Visa Fee. Please submit the fee(s) according to the intructions on the IV fee bill sent to you from NVC....". But I send IV fee from Apr 30 and I also got confirmation receipt on May 02. This letter has the address to NVC ATTN. DR 32 Rochester Ave. Portsmouth, NH 03801. But IV fee I sent to NVC PO Box 790136 Saint Louis MO 63179 following instruction in IV fee bill. So, What can I do now? I tried to call NVC but I got only AVS. Can I still use James shortcut and send my DS-230? Please help me

Don't forget to look at the requirements for your embassy: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3830.html

I'm in the process of doing mine. For me, I need:

1) The DS-230 (with my wife's signature on P1)

1) Notarized copy of police records for my wife

1) Notarized copy of birth certificate

1) Notarized copy of passport

1) Copy of marriage certificate and translation

2) 2x2 passport photos

And it would be best to include a cover letter. Oh, yes, you need the bar code paper.

Hey just a quick question - I've already sent my stuff in for the DS-230 ... I sent all originals of my wife's documents (except for passport photocopy) - I thought they expressly requested "originals" and not copies for birth certificate (actually maybe for this there's an exception), marriage certificate, and police records ....

Also make sure you put the beneficiary's name, DOB, and case number on back of the passport photos! :)
