My fiance was taken to the police station in Korea for fighting. He didn't go to jail but did pay money to the other person involved. In Korea, even if you don't start the fight, the person who does the most damage gets into trouble. We will get the criminal record tomorrow to see if it is even listed. If it is, what will we run into at the interview? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I don't know if it makes a difference, but who started the fight? If it was the other person, is that listed in the police report? I don't know if it would be a problem if it's listed as him starting it...but I would imagine that this wouldn't cause any problems for you if it's clearly stated that the other person started it and he was just defending himself. I'm just guessing on all of that from common sense...and as we're all learning, this process doesn't make ANY sense. I hope it all works out for you!

He didn't start it. His car was attacked by 4 guys. He just happens to be able to defend himself. Still, I doubt that would be written on a police report.
