Hello

One more question... we got our NOA2 last week (May 13th). I am planning on working until mid July and then go back to my parents' house until my departure to the USA. By that time, I will hopefully have received packet 3 and sent it back to the embassy in Paris, and maybe (but this is only a maybe) received packet 4. From the timelines of people who went through Paris embassy, packet 4 is received usually 2 months after NOA2, sometimes more. And usually the interview date is 3 months after NOA2.

I think that what I will do is ask the post office to forward my mail to my parents' address, that way I can get what the embassy sends me. Or should I contact the embassy and tell them that my address has "changed" so they will mail everything directly at my parents' address? maybe when I receive packet 3 I can tell them to change the address and to send packet 4 at my parents' house? What do you think I should do?

I don't know what to say to your question! I've read on here about people who send in changes of address and then for whatever reason it doesn't get done. Sometimes the post office doesn't seem to forward government mail either. Since you have to do something, since your mail can't be picked up at the old address, I'd say have it forwarded to your parents place AND at the same time, put in a change of address with your parents address.

Edited to add...I note that you'll be moving to St. Louis? Great city! There might be some "need to know things" just before you arrive...if so, myself or Jomo's girl might be of help!

Thank you Carla.

I guess I'm just going to hope that I receive both packet 3 and 4 before I leave! that way no trouble with the post office. If not... I guess your idea is the safest one.

I believe I'm the one writing down the address on the envelope for the visa (after interview) so that should not be a problem.

Yes I will be moving to St. Louis :)

Jomo's girl has already sent me many information about the next steps (SSN, driver's license and such things) I will let you know if I have more questions about the city and the next steps :)

Wow! I come on here to just browse and there is my name!

I forget now; but doesn't it say on some of those official envelopes that forwarding of mail is not allowed? Might be one reason the post office doesn't forward.

If I were you, I would try not to move until you receive those packets.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

Oh I didn't know that... then yes I'm definitely going to hope I receive the packets before I leave, and if I don't, I'll stay longer in Paris (and have my family come :P) until I get them. Just to make sure. Or I'll ask a friend to come and pick up my mail for me.

Thank you

I just received packet 3, and on the DS-2001 (notification of applicant readiness) they ask for the address where I want to receive the appointment letter.

We are June 12, my plan right now is that I will be living in Paris until the middle of July and then back to my parents' house to spend some time with them, until I leave for the USA.

Should I write down my address in Paris or my parents' address? I'd say my parents' address just in case it takes more than a month, but I'd like someone else's opinion.

Hey Cécile!

My advice would be that you either give your parents'address or that you tell the post office to forward your mails to your parents' after you leave mid-july. You can do that, it works really well and usually it doesn't take much longer to receive the forwarded mails... I've done it.

As you know, it took me a while to deal with my packet 3 and then 4 because I was in the US visiting my boyfriend. I receive packet 3 end of march and I didn't send the DS-2001 and DS-230 part 1 until may 6th... And so I got packet 4 around may 22nd. And my interview is june 17th...

Changing your address will depend on if you can get the I-134 and other docs from your fiancé quickly or not. Assuming your fiancé sends everything now, you won't get the docs before next week. Then, you'll send DS2001 to the embassy at best end of next week. Let say around the 20th. They sent me the packet 4 after only 3 weeks, so if it is the same with you, you will probably receive their packet 4 after mid-july at best... So my advice is that you give your parents' address... That is what I would do in your situation, if you don't want to risk to lose a few days because of the forwarded mail option...

I really don't think it is a big deal anyway to change your address. I think they just want to make sure they have the most updated address to send the important papers at the right place...

Bon courage, ça va aller comme sur des roulettes!!

Actually my fiance has already sent everything to me, so I am going to try to return the DS-230 and DS-2001 tomorrow at the embassy!

I think you are right. I will give them my parents' address. And just to make sure, in July I will ask the post office to forward my mail from Paris to my parents' address.

Thank you :)

And good luck for you interview next week!
