Sorry, Slim! lol

Thank God that no PETA people or people of a sensitive and artistic nature jumped in on the Gerbil comment, we would have really been swamped with some nasty posts instead of the age old God yes/no that we are in our own individual way, very familiar with.

How about let people who believe in God believe in God...it's clear the OP does and it's clear that some of the posts here are antagonizing him and of a hurtful nature to those who believe...this is against the TOS of VJ. If you don't believe in God...good...we are all happy for you...keep it to yourself or start your own post celebrating whatever it is that floats your boat. Don't bring it to someone else's thread and try to ruin what is a happy moment for them. You won't change anyone's mind just as they won't change yours so let's skip the religious debate please.
I think you need to take a reading comprehension class. I never said anything about believing or not believing in god. My question was about god's priority list and what makes the cut. Try again.

God Bless,

AKDiver

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

You know exactly what you were trying to do. Don't play stupid. (or are you not playing?) The terms of service for VJ state that it is not permitted to:

Make comments in a Post either direct or implied toward another member that are purposely designed to upset, antagonize, make fun of, belittle, or otherwise instigate an argument that takes away from the personal enjoyment of the Service by other users.

Your post stated:

So, uh, with floods and earthquakes in asia, thousands upon thousands dead, dying and suffering - along with everything else in the world that is going on - you think your lady getting a visa is really going to make your god's list of priorities?

Wow.

You are attempting to belittle the OP (and all other believers in God...that's God with a capital G) implying that his beliefs are silly. Unless you are a complete idiot you would know this will antagonize and instigate an argument. You ARE taking away from the personal enjoyment of the Service by myself. I would guess you are having the same effect on anyone else who believes in God...it's offensive.

I'm not naive enough to think you are merely on a fact-finding mission on God's priorities. I doubt anyone else here is either.

Many people have problems accepting the fact that others have something they believe in when they believe in nothing and feel the need to attack these beliefs. It's a normal reaction to such insecurities. But I digress.

I'm sure you can find much more interesting things to argue over here than religion. Posts like yours have been done way too many times here and have lost all their originality, so please, find something else to be unhappy about. Thanks!

As much as I would like to see a fact-finding mission on God's priorities (still pulling for that religious debate) I'm pretty sure this is going to go in a different direction. Especially after seeing Cheers changed to God Bless.

Wow! You've got it all figured out, eh??

You are attempting to belittle the OP (and all other believers in God...that's God with a capital G) implying that his beliefs are silly.
No, I was implying that his plea for divine help concerning a visa is pretty selfish, considering the other areas to which divine help could be applied.

You ARE taking away from the personal enjoyment of the Service by myself.
If you get yourself in a tizzy, that's hardly my fault. Don't read my posts. It's simple to do and costs you nothing. Yet, you can't resist! You must want to know what I have to say. Put me on your ignore list if you must - but don't blame your unhappiness on me.

I would guess you are having the same effect on anyone else who believes in God...
and so you are assuming that I don't believe in god?

I'm sure you can find much more interesting things to argue over here than religion
Hey, I'm not the one insisting on an argument and telling people what they should or should not say in their posts. I know how to skip over material I don't find interesting and move on to the next post. Do you?

God Bless!

Does it need to be a large-scale tragedy for someone to be deserving of a little positive energy? I don't even believe in God and I don't see anything wrong with asking for a prayer or two.

There's no rule that says you can only pray for world peace, ending world hunger, etc. Nothing is too small to pray to God about and it's perfectly ok to pray for things that apply to you. Most of us believe that God is omnipotent and omnipresent thus praying for one thing will not detract God from getting to something else...He doesn't need a priority list.

I'm not in a tizzy. I just don't like to see people putting down others because of their race, sexual orientation, religion, etc. I'm not trying to make rules here what you can post and not post...it's VJ's rules, not mine.

and so you are assuming that I don't believe in god?

Yes. I'm assuming that based on the content of your first post (ex. referring to your god which would imply that you don't believe in the same God). Also, most people who believe would always capitalize God...He's not just some god...He's THE God. Also, just based on some of your other posts I would venture to guess you don't believe in God. It's usually pretty easy to tell believe it or not.

Hey, I'm not the one insisting on an argument and telling people what they should or should not say in their posts. I know how to skip over material I don't find interesting and move on to the next post. Do you?

I'm not insisting on an argument either, but if I was going to argue something it would be that you should have just skipped the OP's post (since you claim to know how to do this) or posted something encouraging rather than posting something negative. I'm hoping you will exercise your ablity to skip over material by not responding to this post, unless you feel like there's something you need to add.

Have a nice day! :D

It's the trivialization of a god that is most offensive. I mean, what's next - "dear god, help me find a parking space so I can make the big sale at walmart!" ??

Yes. I'm assuming that based on the content of your first post (ex. referring to your god which would imply that you don't believe in the same God).
how should I know which god the OP believes in?

Also, most people who believe would always capitalize God...He's not just some god...He's THE God.
God is not a proper name. It's also about as creative a name as calling the moon "Moon". I tend not to capitalize it.

I'm not insisting on an argument either, but if I was going to argue something it would be that you should have just skipped the OP's post (since you claim to know how to do this) or posted something encouraging rather than posting something negative.
If you choose to view something as negative, that's up to you. Outta my control man.

I'm hoping you will exercise your ablity to skip over material by not responding to this post, unless you feel like there's something you need to add.
I always do this. If you don't like what I add, well, that's up to you.

umm, i think that "being reunited with the woman who is/is going to become your wife and hoping that the us will allow her to emigrate" is a LOT different from "finding a parking space at walmart." i hope that you did not trivialize your wife in this way.

Just for future reference (if you really don't understand why God is capitalized) I recommend reading the following Wikipedia page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_case

The names of gods are capitalized, including Allah, Vishnu, and God. The word god is generally not capitalized if it is used to refer to the generic idea of a deity, nor is it capitalized when it refers to multiple gods, e.g., Roman gods. There may be some confusion because the Judeo-Christian god is rarely referred to by a specific name, but simply as God (see G-d#Laws of writing divine names). Other names for the Judeo-Christian god, such as Elohim, Yahweh and Lord, are also capitalized.

If you have personal reasons for not following accepted conventions and making your own, more power to you.
