My wife received a IR1 visa and was told that she would get her green card in the mail in 2 months. Still nothing after 3. Do we need to change status or something? We have gotten her SSN just not in the mail yet. It was SUPPOSED to be automatic also. Went to the SSN office and they didnt have any information on it. So is this stuff really in the mail? Is there anything about a visa that is really automatic?

We got my husband SSN card 2 months after we went to SSN Office... we got his green Card 3 months after he got in the US.

Yes, we understand that. But did you have to do anything after your 230? Did your SSN come automaticaly without any follow up? How bout your green card, did you need to follow up on any thing for it also? My wife is losing her mind over this...lol.

You don't need to change status! :D

You should have received a SSN card about 6 weeks after you've activated your IR1 visa at the POE, if you checked the appropriate box on the DS-230. And your green card *should* have been here by now. The stamped visa in the passport will serve as a temporary I-551 so your wife can work and travel outside of the US until the actual green card is received,

My husband received both his SSN card and CR1 green card about a month after arriving in the US.

Did you get a welcome letter from USCIS? The green card usually follows that letter.

I think that your next step is getting an InfoPass appointment and inquire at the local USCIS office.

:)

We have not gotten anything from USCIS. We have heard nothing from anyone about anything and its 3 months after her arrivial here. We did go to the SSN office and they told us that there was nothing in their system about the SSN till we put in the paper work for it at that time. So the check box on the 230 doenst work all the time. Not this time for sure anyway.

My wife is going crazy with fear that something isnt right with here visa. Its hard to console her when nothing seems to be working in her favor as so many official people, the US Counsler in Manila, had told her. We have had Immergration Laywers tell us that everything is automatic about receiving the SSN and green card in the mail without having to do anything with a follow up.

We thank you so much for giving so much help to all that need it. I just wish that the government would follow its own rules and regulations so that so many questions like this wouldnt need to be ask so many times.
