My husband was approved for his green card already; but today, along with his "Welcome" letter, he received a notice of action stating that his I-130 application was approved and that the application was sent to the Dept of State National Visa Center. Should we notify someone that we don't need to pursue this visa anymore as his adjustment of status to permanent resident was already approved?

Thanks!

huh??

You need the I-130 approved as well. It's not one or the other in order to have a complete adjustment of status, they need to approve all the forms you submitted (I-130, I-485, I-864, I-765). The answer is no, you don't need to tell anybody you don't need it.

Just to clarify, the I-130 is the petition for a foreign relative and it must be approved before (or along with) the AOS application...it basically determines your elegibility for the Green Card (it grants you a visa number that otherwise you would be stuck in line for)....since your GC was approved, your I-130 was likely approved as well...

Now the I-131 (just one number off) is the Advance Parole document and that is an entirely different story...

Ah I see now, I misunderstood something I was told back at the beginning of our wait. I was under the impression that it's an either/or situation, and once one is approved, the other can be abandoned. I understand now, thanks guys!
