Hi All,

I'm not sure if I've done this all wrong but I didn't think that I had a valid reason to apply for a SSN card and reading through all the other related comments I haven't had any problems opening bank accounts or adding myself to the rental appartment. The only challenge I have had is applying for a drivers licence, but it clearly states that getting a drivers licence is not a valid reason. What is the challenges if I wait until I have my EAD card since I will need to change the status anyway?

Thanks in advance.

Clare

you wouldn't be applying because you want to get a Dl, you are applying because you are eligible... but it is a personal choice... if you don't need it then get it when you want... if you receive EAD and apply.. you will still need a return visit when you get your greencard...
