Hi All,

We finally have an infopass appointment for Atlanta next week regarding our AOS being so far past the listed dates. I was wondering if anyone else has been for an INFOPASS appointment that could let me know if they are usually at all helpful. I know that calling the USCIS information line is not helpful in regards to our case. I really am a natural born worrier and stresser and I am trying to remain calm and relaxed about all of this but as most of you know it is such a long drawn out process to live with the one we love that you can't help but become stressed at times. ANyone that has been through an infopass appointment I would really appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,

Debby.

You don't have your timeline filled out (AOS) so don't knwo how long past are you. We made an infopass to try and get biometrics appointment prior to AOS interview and they were completely useless. This was in Denver. So, my advice - go ahead and try but don't get your hopes up. Good luck

I had an InfoPass appointment for my AP, not AOS, in Seattle. I had to wait for 4 hours before I was called up to talk to an Officer, but after that, I was issued the AP that day (it was emergency AP).

Good luck Debby,

I will be interested in hearing about your response since I am considering an infopass appointment as well. At the very least I hope you will be able to find out what the delays have been and get an idea of what to expect in the near future.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thanks,

I will post and let you know how it goes. I am really hopeful that something will come out of the infopass appointment. We also sent a letter to the Atlanta office along with copies of all notices and letters etc relating to our AOS.

I have just attempted to update my timelines on here not sure if I did it properly though.

Timeline

To be honest the Infopass can go either way. I've been down there a few times, but only 2 times recently since they implemented the Infopass. One of those times was in November 2 days after I got my faulty Green Card and the day I was supposed to leave for Europe (eek!). I went down there to file my I-90 and get the I-551 stamp so I wouldn't have issues getting back in. It took me 3.5 hours and 3 trips there (I only live 5 minutes from the office) to get it resolved. Third trip I got the stamp and it turned out everything could have been resolved the first trip I was there if they hadn't been such incompetent ####### about it (very frustrating!!). So it was very frustrating but in the end it got resolved - at least temporarily for that trip. Oh, and that time everything was resolved in the hallway where you "check in."

The other recent time was uhmmm, around March I guess. They returned my entire I-90 package because they claimed I never sent in the passport photos for which I got an RFE (even though I got an email from them saying they DID in fact get my photos, grrrrr). That time they sent me from the "check in" to the waiting room where I probably waited 30-45 minutes before I was called. Towards the end the lady got pretty nice and basically told us to re-file from scratch as well as giving me another I-551 stamp for 3 months. She said she couldn't give it to me longer because I didn't have a I-90 receipt (grrr &^#@^&), so even though she was nice and all I guess I didn't feel like I necessarily got super much out of the trip because essentially nothing got resolved. Again, temporary fix.

So like I said, it can go either way as far as their helpfulness goes. Just don't try to attack them, otherwise they get defensive. Expect them to be in a grumpy mood when you start talking to them (I guess they deal with so many non-english speaking foreigners that they get easily frustrated), so try to be nice to them and hopefully they'll end up being nice back to you. If anything, blame things on the system but don't make it sound like it's their fault. Learned that the hard way on one of my trips down there a few years back, haha.

I hope yuo get something out of it, but chances are there's not much they can personally do about it. Nontheless, best of luck! *fingers crossed for you* :)

PS Oh, and I may just have to make another Infopass appointment soon myself. I still don't have my correct GC and the last I-551 stamp is only valid through July 1st and I'm going to Europe soon and won't be back until July 17th. *big sigh* I just want this to be over with! :crying:

Oh no......Well I will keep my fingers crossed that the infopass appointment helps and gives us some answers. When you have an appointment time to speak with an immigration officer via an infopass is the wait time hours from the scheduled time?????

We will be heading there prepared with all documents etc and will remain nice and calm. Although I am not sure I will be able to stay calm if I don't get any sort of answers.

This process is not made to be easy is it. At times I wish that we had of gone the K-1 rather than the K-3 as they seem to move faster and easier through the system which I really don't get since with K-3 we are husband and wife before filing.

Thanks for the input Steffi.

They are pretty good once you get there! There are a few that are not so friendly, but if you just realize that they are civil servants (that are neither civil nor servnat at times) with a very low pay and that any rude remark should not be taken personally you are going to be just fine! Good Luck now!

Sort of I guess. I mean you go there with your letter for the specified time and the first time around I got the problem resolved in the lobby area (I was in and out of there 3 times between having to get unnecessary documents, etc), the second time they sent me to the other room down the hall to wait to talk to someone, and that's when I had to wait another 30-45 minutes.

When is your date again? Again, best of luck! :)

Our infopass appointment date is friday 19th May. If you only go to the front desk are you speaking to an immigration person there? On the page to request an infopass appointment we checked speak to an immigration officer. I really hope that we manage to find something out the information line said that we needed to make an infopass appointment to find out what is happening with our case.

Well we went to our INFOPASS appointment on Friday. The immigration officer was really nice. She was able to tell us that our interview that had been scheduled and then cancelled was cancelled due to our file not arriving in the Atlanta office. She also told us that now our file is at the Atlanta office and that it was looked at on 5/5. She said that a new interview date had not been scheduled yet but that she would expect that within the next 30 - 60 days we will have an interview date. I feel a bit relieved after speaking with her and I also asked what would happen if it got close to my K-3 expiring and we didn't have an interview yet. She said that she really doubted that would happen but that if it got to 30 days before the K-3 expiring to apply for Advanced Parole. She asked if we had been married for 2 years or less and when we said that we had been married for 2 1/2 years she said that there wouldn't be a problem so I hope that is right.

Anyway now I just wait to get an interview letter in the mail. She was really nice though and I am glad that we made an INFOPASS appointment.
