Yay for the suburbs! Just got the green light to do it on their beach - for free. (No chairs, just peeps standing around). They said it's a public beach and there's no problems.

Yay for packet 4's!! Since Brazil sends 3/4 together.... We NEVER got it! We just did the online forms and then he got the visa and the big brown envelope a few days later..... And now, in 2 more sleeps, my Xuxu will be leaving sunny, hot Brazil, for snowy, cold Chicago!! He MUST love me a LOT for that!! Haha.

Sorry I've been so absent, I've been going nuts trying to get our wedding planned. Lucky for me my bestie/ Maid (technically Matron- but she won't let me call her that!) of Honor is also a wedding planner!! But we booked our beach coordinator, and have narrowed down the reception site (a small room overlooking the harbor), have the dresses ordered, hotel booked. Now just airfare, cake, flowers, and invitations out. Sigh. This is like a full time job, I swear! And when we're done... yay for the AOS process

Speaking of AOS, are any of you getting married closer to the K-1 expiration date? We'll still be able to file before the K-1 runs out, but we're concerned about EAD. He'll hopefully get one at JFK, but if we're not getting married until April 17 (and we run out on April 26) he'll have to stop working, correct? Does anyone know if we can apply for the EAD before AOS? And if we actually have a chance at getting approved if we do? I know it costs extra, but if he's going to be working, that will help offset that. I'm just worried about supporting us in this insanely expensive city on my measly salary (yep, I know I signed the affidavit). Any thoughts???

So now we're not sure what to do.

We are going to get married at a courthouse so we can file for AOS the day after Melannie arrives. Then we will have our wedding at our leisure and not have to worry about all that other stuff at that time.

Um jess not sure about the ead stamp at jfk anymore. I was concidering it. Then I was on here and saw a post from someone about rule changes and a new form. I think the person was claiming it renders the Poe ead stamp usless. But I tried Reading it and got so confussed. And if it's so usless now wont that mean they won't dish out the stamp anymore? I dunno. It did not make sence to me. But I think the post is in america and your new life forum. Let me know what u make of it cos I have no clue.

If the post is bull the ead stamp is valud as long as his I 94, I believe and I think he has to stop working till he has his ead temp card.

We didn't spend any extra to fly him through JFK as we had an airline credit from another trip, so that's good at least. We'll just see what happens on Monday and go from there I guess! You can apply for EAD before AOS but it will only last for the length of the I94. It will also be a seperate application fee. Where as if you apply for the EAD & the AP along with the AOS, it is just the cost of filing AOS.

i think if you apply for temp ead card with aos then theyt claim to process it within 90 days so if thats true and your time frame i think simo would be having a month long break, but its wheather the 90 dyas bit is true or not.

I think Hannah is right. In most cases I have seen if you use the temp EAD linked to the I94 it lasts the 90 days. Then you need to AOS with an EAD. The EAD in most cases takes less than 90 days to be issued and in the cases I have seen is back dated to date the application is received. (Yep there is another series of NOA's in your future.) So if you apply for AOS while you have the temp EAD the new one should overlap with start dates.

This is no guarantee of course I base it all on anecdotal evidence provided by the others on VJ.

We wanted to avoid the civil ceremony... well I did actually, but looks like we're going to either have to do it, or have a couple months only on my income. Hmm. We'll wait and see what happens.
