Well, Chicago park district wants $650 just to get married on a public beach. With 10-15 guests. just standing there. for 15 minutes.

Rediculous amount to charge for a public beach. It should be free except maybe for a small charge for a permit maybe.

I can't figure out how my fiancee and her group of plotters are making all these plans and itsn't costing me anything yet.

Melannie how did u find ure big house? We need one of those in Cali for my family and the idea of using it for reversal dinner sounds like a blinder but I just can't find one. My uncle found one but mum was saying it woud cost 5 k ( pesume that was dollar) per family (x 2) and that's for maybe two weeks that's way too much. Was thinking motel 6 but it will be cramped and no place to hang out.

I was looking at Melannie's and John's links from the other day and it looks like they're B&B's. That might work out for you Hannah....There aren't that many in Chicago.....everything is so expensive here I emailed a suburban park district to see about their beach. If not, then it may be my friend's back yard. but I'm still going down there to get pics taken of me and my hunny in our wedding clothes. permit or not!

I am sure it is costing someone. I have said that I have only so much funds and all and was told to not worry about it. Ok then. I am sure they are just going to pay the fees and stuff but still it would be good to know now instead of later they need me to write a check. This being left in the dark and all is maybe even more nerve racking then being let on to the details. I do plan on having a sit down when I go back home next week and try to find out more.

Sounds great Star. They surely can't expect to ask for money to just take pics. When I was supposed to many years ago get married I had gone to see about a small garden park near where I live that is public and very popular for weddings. I was told I needed to get a permit for 50 dollars and the permit would allow the wedding for a set day and time period. They did that I was told so that there would not be a bunch of different weddings trying to happen at the same time and fighting.

We have tried to figure out what everything costs then added 20% That created the budget. Now I am trying to get everything under that cost.

The one we rented is a B&B without the second B for breakfast. I think they put out some stuff, but nobody lives on site so staying there, they'll pretty much be on their own.

The other one is just a weekend/vacation retreat that is just around the corner from our house.

I wish I could say we found them in some special way, but they are just places I have known about for years. I did think of the one we rented when I searched "weddings in paw paw mich" and saw the name.

I would say this is all just small town stuff, you'd probably have to get out of the city a ways before you'd find places like this. As Carmen says, everything is so expensive in Chicago or any other city for that matter I would think.

Yay for the suburbs! Just got the green light to do it on their beach - for free. (No chairs, just peeps standing around). They said it's a public beach and there's no problems.

Shame on the city of Chicago. Heh.

Ha! It seems the waiting is never ending! We didn't have to deal with a Packet 4. We got the interview date right away, it came with the Packet 3. We got through the interview, a couple of weeks of reviewing the evidence, and then approval, and then waiting again for a short AP. It was all pretty quick for Casablanca standards. Yet...here I am waiting still, but now for my fiance to arrive.....
