Ok, I"m not familiar with India, but from what I know, if they didn't check that they are returning your case to the USCIS, then it hasn't been denied. Casablanca actually gives that form (221 g) to EVERYONE. We got one too. But what's important to note is what they asked you for. In your case it sounds like they want more evidence for your future plans. So, if I were you, I'd start gathering it ASAP! They gave you specifics, so work hard on getting that, and in addition, I would gather letters of support from family and friends who know about your relationship and upcoming wedding plans. Have then sign the letters and have the letters notarized.

Star Dragon, thats interesting that Casablanca gives the 221g to everyone! I'm thinking the policy at the Mumbai consulate has changed recently because of the fact that no on who interviewed on the 11th got approval, I think they were all (3 or 4 people) given 221g.

I'm just wondering if all this is because they suspect something is very wrong with our case or if its just part of the process and everything will go smoothly after we provide the required documents about future wedding plans.

My fiance's form had the "Other" checkbox marked and they said that they needed to review the evidence further. They kept all the evidence he brought - except the Photo album, which he forgot to take that day!!! But after a frantic email from me to the embassy asking if he could drop off the album for the CO's review, they sent me an email telling me he can come in for a second interview.

But others at Casa who have passed have also gotten the 221 (g) for AP (administrative processing, which could be security name checks, etc). Maybe India is similar? It's probably one of the embassies who don't issue visas right away, too.

Maybe Mumbai is on heightened security now, and the process is just taking longer? I think for countries the 221 g can also be just standard for "we're working on it" not necessarily a denial like it might be in other countries (UNLESS it says that they are returning your petition to the USCIS, then that's a denial)....in your case they asked you for something specific. I dunno, to me, that's a good sign. You know exactly what they want and they're giving you a chance to present it to them - it's better than being in AP limbo

Yay us!!! I think it's because we're so supportive of each other . And welcome back Zoe and Hal! I was right there with you, reading but staying away on this thread while we waited, and waited, and WAITED. But now's so far, so good!

I just sent out a $50 package of affidavit ####### to Adriano. I'm PETRIFIED that it won't get there in time for the holidays, or that something is wrong on it, since our POS lawyer won't email me back, or answer my calls. I swear, he is USELESS! I've learned more on here than he's helped us. Is there a place to review lawyers? Sorry, done venting.

They're in Washington D.C. which is EST and is +3 hours from PST.
