I went to get copies of my custody orders and she asked if I needed them certified. I paid her to get it certified but then started wondering if notarized is the same. I have a notary who will do it for free. Is it the same thing? Do I even have to have custody orders certified or notarized?

notarised and certified arent the same..with a notary you make a sworn declaration you are signing/saying the truth. Certification just certifies that the document produced is a correct copy of the document brought in. It doesn't include a statement that the document itself is accurate - just that the copy is.

Also no I don't think you need them certified OR notarised. You do however need a notarised statement frm the father/ex husband (if applicable) confirming their permission for the child to emigrate with you.

Thanks, yeah I did some reading on the difference. Makes sense now lol.

I actually don't need anything from their father. He has had nothing to do with them in their lifetime which is why I have custody with no visitation.
