Hello,

I'm the foreign spouse and we just went to the SS office to find out we were one day (!) late (less then 14 day until i-94 expires) to get the SS card under the new last name (I already have one under my maiden name)

Do you think it's ok to use the new last name on all of the AOS filing forms? The copy of the SS card we'll be sending in will still be in my maiden name along with the rest of the document copies.. Not sure what to do here..

Please advise

AOS

May 16 - Sent to Chicago Lockbox

May 21 - Received in Chicago

May 25 - NOA1s issued

May 30 - NOA1s received for AOS, EAD, AP

June 26 - Case transferred to CSC

July 26 - Biometrics Letter received

Aug 12 - Biometrics Appointment

Aug 12 - AOS touched

Aug 30 - EAD card received in mail

Oct 06 - RFE (need medical and vaccination) ;(

You don't need a SS number to file for AOS so no need to send that. Use whatever name you want to appear on your Green Card.

You are not required to have a SSN to file for AOS. You do not need to send a copy of your SSN with your application for AOS and if you were it would not make any diffrence if it was in your maiden name or married name. Once you get your EAD in your married name you will be able to have the SSN updated to show your Married name.
