Hi, I'm a registered nurse in the US and I have a job waiting for me in South Carolina. I am filed in a K1 visa, however, and my question is, can we move to South Carolina once I am there in the US even though I'm filed in the state of California? or do we have to stay in California?

Any idea would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You can move to any state. There is no law requiring you to live in California. :-)

as long as you keep the USCIS upadated on your new address/es incase they need to send you important docs or when filing AOS... plus when we moved to a different house they told us to atleast keep them updated especially that im still holding a temporary 2yr GC or something... good luck and God bless!!!

LOL. I have a job there at Mcleod Regional Medical Center. We're not sure yet if we're really going to move. I'd prefer the weather in California, but I am also hesitant to let go of my job opportunity in SC. Oh well, nothing is set in stone yet, really. My fiance and I still have time to think about it. =)

The only worthwhile advice I can give is do what is best for you and yours. Sounds simple, and often isn't, but in me and my SO's case, we've given up a great opportunity in her country for her to come here since it's the best option for us both. If SC is best for BOTH of you, why not give it a try? If CA is best, maybe consider sticking around more.

Simple, right?

Part of the equation, of course, depends on his job, since he is the petitoner, right?

Exactly. He has a great stable job in California, been at his job since 1999, so that would make it 9 years now. But he's been talking about change, so we are considering about moving to SC, but he is still unsure about it. Oh well. I'll go wherever he will go. hehehe I'm sure I can easily find a job in the US anyway, considering I'm a nurse, so wish us luck!

Once you're here in US, your address will be updated when you filed your AOS so better move before filing because I have heard some inconveniences from moving while a case is pending.
