ONE MAJOR TIP FOR THE MEDICAL EXAM

GET AND BRING ALONG A RECENT XRAY RESULT FROM OTHER REPUTABLE CLINIC/HOSPITAL/ DOCTOR!!!

If possible get a medical exam prior to your medical at SLEC and bring it along with your documents to make sure you have prior test results to contest whatever problem they might find out with your test from them.

Try to avoid taking any additional test because it will only take delay things or worse months to wait and for them to reschedule your interview!!!

Take it from my own experience people. I've been regretfully too complacent.

But I'm keeping my hope floats and complete trust in GOD!

I can get through this little set back!

Special thanks to Ammie, Riza and Gay..you girls are such and angel!!!! My prayers to you too Gay~

Wish this little info can help someone in a way...

All the best to all!! God bless!

YES! My wife had her exam on April 23. SLEC found something on her xray and she now has to wait until July 2 for the results. This something was a scar on her lung that was on an xray she had in 2001. Although I dont think SLEC will except findings from another clinic. We are now waiting for her results in July. Her original interview date was on May 12 2008, so we are praying for a July or sooner interview.

okay Maribel had TB yrs ago. we know she has the scar. she underwent the 6 months of treatment back in 2004.she has doctor's notes saying she is clean and hasn't changed. she has 8 sets of xrays, from 2004 showing no change. will that help at all, or is it the SLEC just wanting to delay people further?

for those of you who had to have the sputum test, did you have xrays done every yr after u have been treated and brought those xrays to the medical or did u just bring 1-2 xrays?

Thanks for the info, I have thought of having a pre-med also but this could only be a way of easing our minds and feel confident. We can do nothing but rely on SLEC's results as authorized by USEM. Right, there could be no excemption.

Stay positive...God bless!

I had my wife and anak take TB test 6 months [takes about 6+months plus to cure TB] before we thought they'd have SLEC medical.

Anak did have minor problems and they were taken care of before the medical. They did make her take two CXRs tho.

Hello guys

I had my medical on May 7th. When I returned the next day , I went to 2nd floor for immunization but my name was called for me to proceed to 4th floor. The nurse assigned there told me that " 2 doctors found an infiltration on my upper right lung". I told the nurse that I had a chest xray saying I have normal chest findings, that it was done on April 10,2008 prior to my operation. And also my doctor required me to have the Cardio-Pulmonary Clearance and so on and so forth. But the nurse told me that they only accept xrays done 3 months ago She scheduled me for my sputum tests on May 14-16. Now, Im done with the collection and will be back on May 21 for the evaluation with the doctor.

I was not convinced with the SLEC chest xray result. So, I made some steps maybe just to tell myself that I am OK and put me at ease.

On May 8th, I decided to have the PPD test because I couldn't believe that I really have problem with my lungs. I returned to the clinic the next day and the nurse told me that "it's positive". On May 12th, I consulted a pulmonologist and showed to him my arm and he said "it's positive" then I showed him my April 10 chest xray film. He said my lungs are ok , no problem then asked me "why did you have the PPD test? Then I told him about what happened to my chest xray result at SLEC. He advised me to have another chest xray at their clinic because they use 3D, and it would clearly show my lungs and probably show the "infiltration" the nurse was telling me at SLEC. And also he made a statement that "Let them do the sputum tests. Most likely or 90% , you will be negative". On May 13th, I got my xray result and the impression said " essentially normal chest findings"

I will bring my 2 xray films (April 10 and May 13) to SLEC for my initial evaluation on May 21st. I know I was told prior to sputum collection that they only accept xray films from 3 months ago but I asked a different nurse if it is ok and she said "yes". The nurse told me also that I will be talking to a doctor during my evaluation. So, I'll let the doctor see my films for comparison. (April 10 - OK, May 7(SLEC) - infiltration, May 13 - OK)

My fiance and I have been praying a lot that everything will be ok. I also ask for your prayers....for I know prayer is powerful.

God bless us all!

P.S.

PPD positive doesn't mean that the person has TB. It only means that the person was exposed to people with TB. And also if the person has a BCG vaccine, the antibodies will react to the injected PPD.

You can certainly try to bring your X-ray result from another hospital, but they will only accept it if it is recent, and by recent, I mean, like one month ago, I think. I had a friend who brought hers which was taken last February 2008 and she had her medical last May 2008, it was not accepted.

just to inform you people..as somehow i understand medical sciences problems..

if you'll bring your old results, it has to be like less than a month older than your medical exam sched. so u can really make use of it to contest with a bad xray result.

but mind you. medically speaking, x-rays are advisable to be done with a month interval (so if you'll show your most recent x-ray, they might hold you and schedule you couple of months later.)

the scars from TB can or cannot be removed anymore. the things is if:

it occur before (negative sputum and xray shows scar)

INACTIVE/EXPOSED (negative xray and positive tubercullin test)

ACTIVE/CURRENTLY INFECTED (all are positive)

also theres an instance when you get a positive tubercullin test, negative x-ray and got an active TB.

a disease free lung got an ALL NEGATIVE results, so positive with some of the results may require further examination or treatment.

if you are exposed or have been exposed to an infected TB person, better go see a doctor now, get an x-ray result, tubercullin test and even sputum. if its negative - MAINTAIN THAT AND PREVENT YOURSELF FROM ACQUIRING ONE.

i made a thread about prevention from lung disorders, u can check it all out

From what I've seen over the years. SLEC ALWAYS does their own CXRs. To easy for peeps to bring a fake one!

Hi,

this is just an example to waht you are talking about here now.... I had TB back in 2006 when I had my yearly physical check up as a requirement in my work. After knowing that I had it my fiance now husband helped me in obtaining medical treatment( mahal na mahal masyado ang gamot sa Pinas). I underwent a 6 month medication treatment. I took my medical records including the xray film and results to SLEC, but still after the medical consultation it was determined by SLEC that my xray had a scar so they obliged me to undergo sputum test.

So, in short mga mare or pare, yes they accept all your previous medical records but then they will only use as a comparison but never waivering from their policy. (Sputum test and be cultured for 2 months).

Good luck to all of you and God bless.... Ingatz
