The only people who object are those who consider it 'abnormal' and sinful. The slippery slope argument simply doesn't wash.

Hetero's, **'s, Lezbo's, Who Knows?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I think gays should be allowed to marry and enjoy all the fun that comes with the whole package. Nagging, complaining, ungrateful children and the wonderful holidays with the in-laws, why should people like us not want some poor soul to have the same good times. If we have to suffer, I mean, be happy, than they deserve the same rights.

They already do. All they want is the same right you and I had to marry whomever the heck we choose.

Yea, right. They can marry their mom, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, or whomever or whatever makes them happy. Let's not stop there. Let them marry them all. Why not polygamy too while we are at it. No limits and no boundries. If it feels good do it.

Dude, chill. I don't think people live and die by your opinions, so by all means, spew the hate. We will sleep like babies tonight. Retrograde, much?

Where's the hate? Putting up societal limits is not hate.

The vast majority of humanity on earth does not support, condone, or wish to legitimize homosexuality.

As far as I'm concerned I could care less if someone is a homosexual. It's just not up to the state to sanctify, codify, and promote it. That is what marriage conveys on homosexuality. Hence, the ban on homosexual marriage.

I hear you sister PH. And the reference to a TV shows from the 50's does not really help the argument.... since back then even inter-racial marriages were illegal. But hey! Who cares about societal evolution and change?

While we're at it, let's take away women (and minorities) right to vote, own land, serve in juries.... any others?????? Oh yes, hold office, share seats in buses, restaurants....

Any legal application to anything should always be backed by common sense. Hence, in this particular case, some relationships fall under the obvious and others fall under the ludicrous. Having the ability to rationalize which ones is a plus. :D

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

 If the vast majority of humanity is you, then yes, the GLBTQ community is screwed.... thankfully:

 What does marriage "convey" on homosexuality? Get your grammar right -- I'll buy you a dictionary with pictures, if need be.

Just another example of legislating from the bench. The vast majority of American society at large does not support this nonsense. It's mostly a White, upper class, yuppie, cause celebre. Put it to a popular vote and it would be defeated hands down.

Banning gay marriage is unconstitutional...that's not legislating, that's common sense.

That's the problem with the popular vote route. Minorities are not exactly in a position to protect themselves and their individual rights at the ballot box. One of the reasons we have a constitution and in it certain unalienable rights that are extended to all. Regardless of what the majority says at the polls. And we have courts that watch over the compliance of the laws that are passed. Some just don't meet the muster and the courts are in their right to strike them down. That's not legislating from the bench, it's called checks and balances.

I don't buy that logic. Nudists are the minority and most people don't want nude people running around wherever the heck they feel like going sans clothes as if they have the right to do so. Why? Because society has deemed it unaccceptable. Ditto for homosexuality. Both are not illegal, but there are boundries and limits to both. This is not a constitutional issue some make it out to be. I just don't see it. Most people don't see it either.

I don't see people rushing to support marriages between humans and animals or close relatives or children and adults in Canada, most of Western Europe, South Africa and most of Australia...

I personally do not subscribe to and I am personally opposed to same-sex marriage. However, our constitution and bill of rights lean heavily towards permitted same-sex marriages...

Wait a sec....why the heck isn't homsexuality illegal, peejay? Isn't keeping it legal basically supporting homosexuality?

No reason why they would.

Indeed. Which rather discredits the slippery slope argument put forth by many opponents of homosexual marriage/civil unions.
