For war flicks I highly recommend "Apocalypse Now" (filmed in the Philippines too) and "Das Boot" (The Boat) about German U-boat crews in WWII. Also "King Rat" about POW's of the Japanese.

Many action movies are entertaining to watch, but don't follow good plots or logic, mostly senseless fighting and killing (which is why they are entertaining).

Good action movies that are worth buying include saving private ryan (already mentioned), gladiator and my favorite, Braveheart.

Gladiator and Braveheart were already in my collection as it's my fave movies too, however the Saving Private Ryan i couldn't find that here in P.i. :)

Zatoichi - the blind swordsman- is a very cool movie about a blind samurai who kicks ###.. there are like 26 versions of this movie, but I recommend the 1989 one

zatoichi26.jpg

and for war movies.. I think Full Metal Jacket still tops my list.. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman is hard to forget.. I think they are still the best insults ever I'll hear in a movie..
