Hello Guys,

i have question, my visa is k1, so how much maximum money i can take with me just for emergency when i am leaving Morocco to USA?

Thank you very much guys

There is no maximum.

That said, there is a $10,000 (and over) amount that you must declare/report - under that, you are not required to declare. So unless you're expecting a BIG emergency, you'll be fine with anything under $10,000.

I would suggest wiring it to an account in the US....that way you don't have to worry about carrying all that cash and having keep your eye on it. Should be <$100 to do that. I think worth the peace of mind.

Also it's not just limited to >10K in cash, but any monetary instrument...including Offical Bank Checks and foreign currency among other things.

Please be aware that the US does not require you to report anything under $10,000 - however - I know for a fact that when you are leaving Morocco they ask you how many Dirhams you have on you and they will take it (I witnessed it with my own eyes)_.... So as someone else has posted i would wire it to an account or something like this so you dont lose it!!

Good Luck

WIRE IT don't take cash traveling international to the states never never do that. However I don't think you were thinking to take that much in hand. Be really careful they may try to take advantage of you leaving morrocco.

cash for meals and water or any other expenses I agree to 100-200 in cash keep in your undergarments because i believe they make you take your shoes off.

Check the website for the consulate in Morocco. Morocco has issues with cash leaving the country. My husband didn't have any money so it wasn't a problem for us, but I have friends whose husbands couldn't bring all they had.

I just checked wikipedia and it said it is illegal to bring Moroccan money out of the country so you will have to convert to dollars before you leave.

Yes, like everyone said, can't take dirhams out of Morocco. When I was leaving last time, they asked me if I had any money on me. When I said yes, they told me to empty my pockets and purse. When they saw only dollars, they relaxed. Hubby traveled with only enough American currency for meals and incidentals.
