Lets play election pool! Sort of like a football pool. Pick a state and its winner and get points. Earn more points for tougher guesses.

Pick a State, guess the outcome % within 0.5%. Receive 10 points. Subtract 1 point for every 1% away from outcome. No points are awarded for guessing the wrong candidate to win in that state!

Example, you guess Obama in Alabama 55-45. He wins 54-46, you get 9 points.

For players with 10 points (or 9 points if nobody gets 10 points)-

add points for differential from agreed upon poll site at agreed up date, like June 1st at electoral-vote.com

Example http://www.electoral-vote.com says Obama will only get 36% in Alabama

1st, 10 extra points are awarded for choosing an upset winner (McCain is favored in Alabama)

2nd, 19 extra points are awarded for the spread difference between the poll and the outcome. (55-36)

3rd, 1 extra point for every 100,000 votes separating the candidates.

For example if the vote was 1,000,000 to 800,000, you get an extra 2 points.

So, based on the latest poll results if you guess Obama in Alabama 55-45, and he wins 55.3-44.7, you earn a total of

10 points for a guess within .5%

10 points because he pulled an upset

19 points for the spread from the poll to the outcome

2 points for the vote difference

For a total of 41 points.

If you guessed Obama in Alabama 51-49 and the outcome is 55-45, you only get 6 points (55-51).
