Marriage License and Addresses

Hello,

We're not ready to file for AOS yet, but something that we wondered about.

When we got our Marriage Licenses the other day, the clerk in the court's office told us that we could/should put her 'last known address' which was, of course, her address in the UK.

We started wondering, will this make a difference when it comes to AOS time? Because her address listed on the license is not a US address, and mine of course, is, since I'm the USC.

We did that because she doesn't have anything else to officially list her at this address yet, and in fact, we had been given erroneous information about how to 'establish' her address here from my state's DMV.

So yeah. Is this going to be a problem when AOS comes up? Or anything else for that matter?

If she is living with you - I hope - then thats her address. This is very strange - your putting her foreign address on it? Did you file for her SSN yet? Do that and then you can add her to your bank account, utility bills and lease/rental etc. You will need some of these for AOS. Good Luck

No, she's only been here for a couple of days. We are waiting the recommended 2 weeks for her information to hit the system so we can apply for the SSN.

She will be added to my bank account after we get married, and we do not have any lease/rental/bills in our name yet because of our living situation (she's living with me and my family right now till we can get our own place).

We were uncertain about putting down this address because, according to the DMV, we had to 'establish' her address. Well, USPS then told us that's not how it works and she just has to get mail here to 'establish' her address.

The license did have a place that allowed us to put a foreign country, and the clerk said we could use her 'last known address'.

Basically, if anyone did this and they had no problems at AOS, or did this and did have problems at AOS, we would like to know.

My UK address was put on my marriage license and my AOS was approved and card production ordered on 8th May so you shouldn't have any problem.

22nd March 2010 - Application received by CSC

30th April 2010 - Biometrics appointment

You won't send the marriage license with your AOS package, you will send the marriage certificate that you get after your wedding.
