No he isn't. Satan was described as the most beautiful of all of Gods angels. That was his downfall, he saw himself above God and attempted to overthow Him.

The only problem I see is the fact he also says he disagrees with one of the main tenants of Christianity, that you have to accept Jesus to get to heaven.

He is on record saying his mother did not believe in God, but she is in heaven because she is a 'good person'

Where did you hear that? If you are referring to the concept of some Prostestant preachers who claim you must publicly declare your allegiance to Jesus in order to be saved are taking it to an extreme. One can accept Jesus into their heart today and reject him tomorrow...salvation is an ongoing process...you can't claim yourself saved, it is by the grace of God alone and no one can say who will be in heaven but I think a lot of uppity christians may be in for some real surprises.

Again, no theological discussion, but most of the people in Kentucky who call themselves Christians are of the Protestant belief that the Christian view of salvation is through belief in Jesus. (Southern Baptist, Church of Christ, etc.)

So as most of the people in this thread said before, just more hype to get votes.

Ah, ok. That's understandable, although I'm saying that it's really a semantics issue - to be Christian is to accept Jesus as the Messiah so it shouldn't be an issue, but I realize to some they have a very rigid concept of how one must 'accept' Jesus.

I don't like them either way. I'd rather see no candidate bow to a religious segment. I don't care that he sits in church or does God's work. It's unappealing no matter who does it.

I think it can be unappealing to me when they use it for their own needs. Like, well these people like religious folks so I better act more religious in their state to get more votes, and this state is a lot more secular so I need to distance myself from talking about it in this state, etc. I won't blame one side more than the other because I know they both do it. I think they should be the real person they are, whether it's religious or not, no matter where they are. But I am asking too much of the politicians. B)

Anyone who has done marketing, or creating any content to be viewed or consumed by an audience, knows that you cater your content to your audience. If you don't know your audience, your message will get lost.

If an audience is religious, talk to them on that level. If they are not, don't bring up religion. Thats just smart.
