Does anybody know if you have to wait for packet 3 to arrive to get police clearance and medical exam in Ukraine? i know both are good for 6 months,

First of all, in the Ukraine they don't have a packet 3 or a packet 4. What they do is send a Information Packet with instructions that when you have all your necessary documents together you are to call to set up an interview. You should get the police clearance now, it'll be valid at the time of your interview. Most people schedule the medical for the day prior to the interview (especially if they are coming from outside of Kiev) but that's not a requirement either. You should have all your paperwork done BEFORE you get the Information Packet so you can call immediately to schedule the interview. Good luck.

You could have applied for the police certificate long time ago. It may take up to a month to get it. If your SO in Kiev, I can give you the contact info, they do it in 7 business day for about $10. The same with the medical. I've done it after our I-129F was approved but before it reached the Embassy. They say you need your Embassy case number to schedule the appointment but I got mine done without it. In any case, I think you'll be able to schedule it a week-two in advance.
