I have a question about the I-765 form. :blink:

If you send the I-765 form with your greencard application does the I-765 make it ok for the petitioner to work during the greencard process? Or does it allow you to work when you get the greencard?

Help me someone!

Does the I-765 make it possible for the petitioner to work...

Filing for it makes you elligible to received the EAD (work permit) card.

You can work only once you have that card in your hands, which takes about 90 days.

So it is possible to work during the Green Card process, but only when you get the EAD card ;)

Once you have your green card, no EAD is necessary anymore.

08.2006: Entered with a B-2 visa.

07.06.07: Civil Wedding

07.17.2008 AOS approved with interview. It took 367 Days!

11.08.08: Big family wedding

09.18.09-10.03.09: First trip to France with Hubby

I-751

04.19.10: Package sent to Vermont

04.21.10: Delivered in Vermont

04.22.10: NOA date

04.23.10: Check cashed

05.17.10: Received biometrics appointment letter

06.07.10: Biometrics Appointment

06.26.10: Touched

07.07.10: Card Production Ordered!

07.17.10: Card in the mail :) Done until citizenship

THe EAD is a temporary work permit that allows you to work while you re waiting for your greencard. It is valid for one year and you can apply for a new EAD if your AOS hasn't been approved within that time.

Th greencard will be your ultimate work and travel permit, once you have that, you don't need EAD or AP anymore.
