Hi guys, hope you well and your managing to keep sane whilst waiting for your visas to be approved:)

I have recently filed my I-129 on the 7th of may and im just looking at the forms needed for the interview and im worried by the checklist that requires proof of engagement. The ring I used wasnt bought but hand crafted at a mrket stall by a freind so dont have a reciept. We didnt have any pics taken or anything like that so basically we have nothing. We have pictures of us together and boarding passes etc. What kind of things have you guys used? Is there a way of explaining this at the interview or am I worrying for nothing??? Thanks in advance.

Most couples simply write a Fiancé Letter of Intent (see Example Here)

Engagement ring is a plus but not a big thing. Our ring was hand made by a very good friend of ours. We got her to write a letter explaining she made it and why she gave it. I wouldnt worry about it at all.

Good luck.

No rings here - hadn't bought one. No pictures either - I had submitted 2 pictures of us together with the I129f, that was all.

It's not a visa where you have to prove 'engagement' - that's an overkill in my opinion. (Some people were rejected because the engagement party pictures looked like wedding pictures and that can be a disaster.) You have to prove that you have met and have an on-going relationship. Since we applied for the visa a month or two after meeting in person, I didn't feel any additional proof was needed; she took along a few emails and chat records - they looked at one email for 3 seconds. Good Luck
