To sign or not to sign

I have read in different places on VJ to not sign the DS-156 or the DS-156K. That this is something that you do infront of the consular officer.

I can understand not signing the DS-156K because the area to sign is under the area that it says "DO NOT WRITE BELOW THIS LINE. THe consular officer will assist you in answering this part."

But I can't see anywhere on the DS-156 that it says anything about not signing.

What have you all done with these two forms ??

Don't sign the DS156 - it says on packet 3 chcklist not to do so.

We didn't sign ours until the interview at the Consulate. The instructions told us not to.

My packet 3 from Vancouver doesn't seem to say anywhere not to sign it but I guess it's better to not sign then to sign and find out that I wasn't suppose to

Yep, that is best. Besides if they need to be signed, you can always do it right there. Only takes a second to sign your name. Good luck during the rest of the process.
