D & I will be heading to las vegas this weekend, but we're only going to be there for one day for a wedding @ Luxor. The wedding is at 1 pm and with the reception, it'll be over around 5 pm. We'll be staying out there until 11 pm. What's nearby that might be interesting? Any ideas? I'm not much of a gambler (neither is my husband), in fact I've never been inside a Casino, any cool restaurants? museums maybe? shops?

Since your not a gambler I wont say hit the tables and roll them dice!!!! Check with the Luxor and see if they will have any good shows going on, or with some of the other casino/hotels. Thier not all Wayne Newton type of shows, they advertise lots of interesting ones such as Cirque de soleil (misspelled) and upbeat shows. Most of all be safe and have FUN!!! :thumbs:

Hey there we're going to Las Vegas this coming weekend also. And we're staying at the Luxor..........we'll be getting married on the 16th.............can't wait to marry the love of my life. There's lots to see in Las Vegas..............there's not enough hours in the day to see a quarter of it. June 25, 2004 - Bruce & I met through mutual friends in my hometown in Newfoundland the night before he was going back to Maine

July 1 - First email between us

July 3 - I called him to wish him a Happy Independance Day

Daily phone calls and emails from there on in

October 20 - Bruce drove back to Newfoundland. He planned on staying a week but it ended up being 3 weeks. We knew for a fact we were in love!

March 19/05 - Bruce back in Newfoundland

April 8 - Bruce picked me up in North Sydney, NS and we drove to Maine. I stayed for a week due to work

July 26 - Bruce back to Newfoundland for another 3 weeks. I can't bear to see him leave.

August 10 - He asked me to marry him.........I had already asked him anyway just to make sure*_*

September 30 - I flew to Boston to meet Bruce there and then we drove back to Maine for 2 weeks

November 18 - We filed I-129F

December 1 - NOA Receipt #

December 28 - Received Packet 3

January 6/06 - Received my Police Certificate of Conduct

January 11 - Sent DS-230 Part 1 back to Montreal Consulate

February 3 - Sent off my check list to Montreal Consulate

March 24 - Medical

April 5 - Interview Date.....APPROVED......Yahoo

April 17 - Moving to Maine

May 16 - Bruce & I became Mr. & Mrs. in Las Vegas (Oh HAPPY DAY)

Only museum in town is at the Bellagio, but it is super nice. They have fantastic dancing fountains too. One idea that we always enjoy is to simply walk the strip and see a bit of everything. Paul and I loved that. They have a tram too that is pretty reasonable...if your feet get too tired. If I was only going to be there for a day, I think I'd take a camera and do that. It's cheap too. At that end of the strip...see the Luxor of of course, Mandalay Bay, and there is also this Camelotte one that I forget the name of. As for restaurants, right across from Luxor is this DIVE hotel/casino that has the absolute BEST prime rib for $4.95. What is Vegas without Prime rib? Then at the other side of the strip is MGM Grand...white tigers. New York New York...roller coaster. Bellagio...dancing fountain and art. Then around the corner is the Venetian...canels. Caesar's Palace...mall. That would be hitting ALL the high spots in a whirl wind tour if you dare. Have fun!

Hoover dam - its a big dam - that's pretty much all it is :lol:

(yeah been there, lol)

Go have fun in Circus Circus casino - loads of things to do (like funfair type games) and high wire, circus acts above your head as you wander around. Much fun!

Ceasar's palace was just great for atmosphere and people watching - many new places since I last visited tho - am sure some of the fancy casinos have interesting things to see.

When Ive visited Vegas I usually play the nickel and dime slots cos you can have fun 'gambling' and it doesnt cost you a fortune.

If you were there for more than one evening Id say try the water park but youre not so never mind :lol:

Also DO contact the Las Vegas Tourist information office - they are a MINE of great ideas and seriously underused!

walk down the strip and check out the hotels. The show inside the caesar's palace is pretty cool about atlantis..

ALso the fire fountain outside of the mirage is great! Just explore and be spontaneous...and plan another trip there with more time :-)
