Have you ever wondered why the KKK started in the first place..

why wonder when you can look it up and find out why they started in the first place? :wacko: :wacko:

but then I suspect you actually know why and when they started.... Oh wait you probably don't. :whistle:

I think I've heard the "theory" before. Hordes of black "road agents" robbing, harrassing and murdering "honest folk" in the South following the Civil War.

don't forget all the lynching those newly free black folks were doing as well. :thumbs:

Oh right... I'd forgotten about them. Too busy concerning myself over the plight of those poor oppressed aristocratic (white) landowners who totally didn't resent losing the war as well as a significant portion of their power base through the emancipation of slaves.

A black man having the same rights as his "betters"? The very thought.... That's going to give me trouble sleeping - first thing in the morning I shall head down to my country club and lose myself in nationalist newspapers, overpriced brandy and smoke myself through an entire humidor.

DW Griffith. I had to watch that film in college for a History of Film class I took. Apparently it was once seen (maybe still is, I don't know, I could google it but I don't care that much) as the first anti-war film because it was so critical of the Civil War.

Why do you care so much?

Coming from the person who thinks a group is not as racist as another simply because someone white established it many years ago. Things change. I look at what the group represents in 2008; And it certainly isn't unity. The same ####### many talk about on a daily basis.

If someone Caucasian created a similar group then there would an outcry of racism. Simple as that. Like certain black churches preaching hate and then disguising it as black culture.

I have the opposite response towards the Palestinians and Israel? I don't believe I've ever condoned terrorism and murder - its not really my thing. I have to say...

In any case - the Israel/Palestine thing is one tangent we probably don't want to go off on - so perhaps you'll serve your own argument by actually elaborating on your earlier post about why you believe the KKK started, rather than going off onto a completely different subject and what you think I think about it ;)

Is this just because you object to the name of the NAACP, or because you actually know what they "represent in 2008".

As far as I know the NAACP is (still) a far cry away from the KKK - even if the KKK is a pale shadow of what it was in the 30's.
