Wow - weak Dem in CA according to that poll

The poll it's using for CA is Obama 50, McCain 43 (Rasmussen, 4/16).

California is not as died-in-the-wool blue as some might think, but that does surprise me.

This is todays projection from electoral-vote.com. It has McCain winning, but I wouldn't worry about these polls till we're closer to November. Or at least till there is much more frequent polling data available for these projections.

Yeah, I don't buy Wisconsin, Michigan, or North Carolina for McCain. We got North Dakota back though! I think this one is more accurate about New Mexico and Ohio- and I think California will be closer than many think.

I totally see MI going for McCain - MI was a big Reagan Democrat state and they gave him a big win in the 2000 primary (but not 08, as Romney was selling himself as a "local boy")

I agree. A lot of numbers will change once both the nominees get to actively campaign with their respective parties united behind them. I see it this way: If Obama is doing this well with Hillary still in the race and a lot of her following still hoping for a miracle, imagine how well he'll do once Hillary throws her full support behind him. And she will.

Purely academic at this point (probably), but the same poll has Clinton leading McCain 47-42. McCain does well in CA.
