A few address questions

Hi, I am new to this forum and have just begun filling out the I-129F form and the G-325A form for Packet 1. I have a question about addresses on them.

1. I live in Costa Rica with my fiance. My home address is not my mailing address (we don't get house to house service here, only P.O. Boxes). Which address do I put in Part A on the I-129F? I considered putting my parent's US address because their mail is much more reliable, but then I thought it would look like we are living apart, which isn't true.

2. Language: Obviously our addresses here are in Spanish. Is that okay? We don't have street names or house numbers, only things like ¨500 meters south of the factory¨etc., but in Spanish. Are they okay with that? What do I do if they don't fit in the alloted spaces?

I might have more questions, but these are the main ones at the moment.

A Spanish address is a Spanish address. There really isn't a way to write it in English because the alphabet is the same.

How do you write "San Francisco" in English?

Ok, it's Saint Francis but the point is it isn't necessary.

But based on what the OP wrote:

"500 metros al sur de la fábrica" maybe should be written on the form "500 meters south of the factory"

since it is not (or does not appear to be) an "official" address

For example, for China, we provide the address in Chinese characters on a separate sheet for just this purpose. There's certainly nothing wrong with providing an English version of the address on a separate sheet but the real address should go on the form, IMO.

What delivery service is used by the Consulate in the OP's country? I suspect they deliver to the house or maybe call you to come pick it up. In either event, this is handled by providing the "delivery address" along with a phone number on a separate sheet, in the native language.

In the OP's case, I would show the address on the forms as the PO Box but reference in the cover letter and attach a separate sheet with the name, phone number and delivery address, in Spanish for use by the Consulate.

1. My address should be in the US to establish domicile.

2. His address should be something that the consulate could use to mail my fiance information.

I was thinking that it might be best to attach on a separate sheet his physical address in English and Spanish (500 meters south of the factory), but leave on the I-129F form the PO Box because it is guaranteed that anything mailed would arrive. Door to door mail simply doesn't work here, we are in a very rural area.

Which leads me to another question: should the G-325A reflect the same information? It asks for residence for the last five years. Do they use that for mailing purposes? If so, I should list his present address as the PO Box. If not, I can put his physical address (in English, and then translated on a separate sheet in Spanish).

Do you think I have it right?

I feel this has to be a problem many, many people have faced so I hope more chime in here.

As I was talking to her on the phone yesterday a letter my brother sent did arrive to her. I am going to wait and see if the package gets there before I do anything, but in the meantime I wonder how relentless the immigration people are in ensuring the package is delivered.

i am glad you asked this question. I have the same concern, and my fiance does not have a PO box. I am thinking we should get one even just for this purpose to ensure we get mail coming from the consulate.

Has anyone already filed this form and can show us an example of how they showed an address without house number or street name and can ensure us that form was accepted with no problems?
