Patrick mailed his packet 3 off on April 11, but we have not heard back from London about when his interview will be. Is this common? I emailed them just now to find out what was going on. However, I wanted to ask here what length of time others going through London had to wait before getting their interview.

Take a look here at the London Interviews Thread. It shows the timelines of most London applicants.

I think normally its about 6 weeks to process packet 3 and issue an interview date. Then I beleive around 6-8 weeks after that until the actual interview.

Although my interview was a while ago (Jan 2005) I reckon it was around 8 weeks from mailing packet 3 to interview. My packet 4 arrived about 36 hours before I had to catch the bus to London - I was only aware of the interview date because of email correspondance with the consulate.

The Immigrant Visa Unit can confirm receipt of the completed forms on May 3. There is currently a delay before we can complete action on your fiancée's case and notify her of the appointment date and time. Your fiancée can expect to receive written confirmation of the date and time of her appointment in approximately 4 weeks.

This wait time is due to the large volume of visa applications currently being processed through this office and is not specific to your fiancée's visa application.

Recived a few days ago when i emailed the London Embassy, my petition was processed in 3 weeks, which is quick.

Fraid it's perfectly normal London are now taking 6-8 to process packet 3 with an interview date 4-6 weeks after that. Take a look at my timeline.
