so you speak chinese then, shenxu? cool...

yeah, we meet because she was a classmate of my Chinese teacher. so my chinese has improved a lot since that day (mostly due to her positive influence)

i can even speak her local dialect now, henan dialect (河南話)

i assume that you can speak Filipino? i have no idea about how different that is from English

just checked USCIS, not touch! time for me to go to the lab and do some experiment

yes, i speak Ilonggo very fluently, Tagalog only somewhat but i understand it well.. there are hundreds of dialects in the Philippines. where i was born, Iloilo City, we speak Ilonggo. Tagalog is the most common and the national language.

i don't have a touch either.. ####### them.. hahaha! just kidding.. maybe end of the month, MAYBE (crossing my fingers!)

what kind of experiments are you working on, if you don't mind me asking...

I'm a graduate student at rutgers university, majoring in organic chemistry. so everyday i am doing different organic synthesis. everyone in my lab is Chinese, so its just like im in China, lol

Yeah no touches for me either raarrr

Fellow May filers! Our expedite request is approved!

if you dont mind me asking, on what ground was it approved? i asked for mine to be expediated on the grounds that my father has terminal cancer, but they denied it because my wife is not his "immediate family" :crying:

thanks guys... I have to wait until he gets his own place. I also got a job as a Tmobile manager at a store so I thought there might be perks I can find out about once I am there that might help...Thanks steve and Jen I'll check it out ASAP....

Ask Tmoble about corporate/dealer plans...something like $10/month, 1000 minutes...SMS overseas is 25c each way though. I use www.sendglobal.com with my cell phone and it's cheaper per minute then multiple SMS it would take to get my point across...but then I can't seem to want to hang up ;-)

My bachelors advisor loves to tell this story: when I was a freshman in college, i wanted to do research, so I asked to join his lab. He agreed and he thought that I would teach his students more English, but what ended up happening was they were teaching me Chinese everyday!

So I took a few courses at college, and I picked it up quite fast. During my junior year I spent a year abroad in Shanghai university which is where I meet my wife during that time. After finishing that I came back to the US and finished my final year of college. After graduating I spent several months in China studying Chinese, while procrastanating applying for graduate school. I started graduage school 2 years ago, and im hoping to graduate in 3 years. I went back 3 times during that time, meet her family twice in her hometown and getting married in January of this year. We had to wait a little while to apply for the visa, becuse first I had to figure out what was invovled then it took sometime to get her birth certificate, as this is not so common in China. Now my feelings are just suspended. VSC GO GO GO MOVE IT! :(
