first find out if VOiP is legal in spain.. some countries do not allow it. "Voip, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is a technology that enables people to use the Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls."

he must first have high-speed internet (cable or dsl.) vonage requires a US address (that's you.) you have to buy a vonage adaptor then just have any touch-tone phone, corded or cordless.

that's vonage. don't know about any other VOiP companies. anyway, i bought the vonage adaptor at wal-mart (linksy's was the brand, i believe.) then i followed the instructions on how to set it up for first time use and for registry. then i can't remember the rest! haha.. something like setting up an account online, picking which plan i wanted. i chose the unlimited for $24.99. after all that is set up. i unhooked it, then shipped it over to him.. well, had my dad take it with him when he went back to the philippines. you pay the monthly fee and he doesn't have to. saved me a ton on long distance calls.

you can take vonage anywhere there is dsl/cable internet. he will have a US phone number, whatever area code you assigned at the beginning of set up, and he can call ANYONE in the USA for free. unlimited. EVEN certain countries in europe. BUT he can't call LOCAL numbers in spain or whatever country he is in, 'cause that counts as LONG DISTANCE (unless it specifies in the plan that that certain country is free.)

hope i made sense!

Or I use terrasip.com. This is a VOIP company out spain, i think. This one does not have a monthly fee. And it is pretty cheap and works good. And if you wanted, you don't even have to buy equipment. You just have the call forwarded to your home or cell phone. You can set up an account for your husband and get a US phune number so it is local for you to call him. And get a account for you with a local phone number for him to call. It doesn't cost very much. in fact, it shows in the rates, to call a landline in spain, it is free.

Or you can get the equipment and it is free for you to talk to each other.

I understand shenxu I check the site @ 2 times a day.

yeah, i wish they would update more often!

ohhh.. so that's MENA!

i am about 15 hours hours behind him during DST, 16 hours normally. so, he it is 7 am there right now, wednesday

I call my wife everyday, two times a day, for her its free to accept incoming calls.

they dont have daylight savings time, so in the winter its 13 hours and summer its 12 hours

the Philippines doesn't have DST either but we do :) we have been together for almost 7 years now, married only 6 months. but the whole "i need to hear your voice 5x a day" doesn't seem to matter anymore. haha! but i do text him about a billion times a day. we talk about 3-4x a week, if he's awake and i'm awake. usually since i work nights, it's days over there, our schedule works out. because when i get home i sleep during the day, he sleeps also since it is night there for him..

i bought vonage and brought it over there, just pay the monthly here.. so he can call me anytime, on my cell, house phone, or work, it's free for him.

ive known her for about 3 years, so i dont need to hear her voice everyday. its not very convienent for me to text her, since my phone cant input chinese. i usually call her after i wake up and before i go to sleep. i really like this way, i think that maybe our time difference is more convienent

hm.. terrasip might be a better option for Rajaa.. it has to do with the country. as you can see, no free calls to the philippines there! haha.. 'cause all filipinos do is TALK!!

i get really anxious and in a bad mood if i don't receive ANY communication from him for at least 3-4 hours.. (if i know he is awake, of course.) im so weird like that! so texting works for us.. i have a sim card that i bought over there, set it up to roaming and he can text me on that number for 1 peso as opposed to the 20 pesos if he texts me to my US cell number. i just reply using my US carrier..

so you speak chinese then, shenxu? cool...

With terrasip, if he has a cell phone, you just set up his account to forward the calls to his cell phone.

No, you do not need a landline. set both of you up with accounts. Set your account up with a phone number in Spain, and his with a New York phone number. Have your accounts forward your calls to your cell phones. It will cost you minutes for a local cell phone call.

hahaha! i thought we were the only weird ones! i guess not! the minute i wake up, i reach for my cell phone and say good morning, just woke up, etc. then i reach for my other cell phone and see if he texted. if he didn't, i would so let him know right away what i think.. haha! then throughout the day we would just let each other know where we are, what we are doing.. it really does help to be connected like this. when i go to work, i will tell him that i'm on my way, i'm here.. then say text you later when i'm not busy.. if he is going out with his friends, he lets me know where and when and he'll text when he gets home. vice versa.

yes, i speak Ilonggo very fluently, Tagalog only somewhat but i understand it well.. there are hundreds of dialects in the Philippines. where i was born, Iloilo City, we speak Ilonggo. Tagalog is the most common and the national language.

i don't have a touch either.. ####### them.. hahaha! just kidding.. maybe end of the month, MAYBE (crossing my fingers!)
