if i were in your shoes, i wouldn't complain either! to get approved that fast..

phew oh good.. I've been in MENA a while and you never know how people will take things  Anyway, I think your idea of the thinist file sounds good. I've had a divorce so maybe mine is puffed up a bit more than they like. But than again it's not September yet so I should be nice never know who's reading this

Well. I also have had a divorce. And my divorce decree is pretty big due to all of the things we had put in the divorce agreement. So I think that shoots down the thin file thing. Yes, originally when I began this journey, I thought they strictly went by the date received. But now I know that is not so. I have been trying to figure out how they decide which ones to work and which ones to scrutinize more.

But here are some things that I have noticed and suspect:

1. It appears that they approve people filing for K3's faster than stand alone I-130's. And I think that it depends on when you send in the I-130, not the I-129F. Because you will see people who are approved like 3 weeks after the NOA1 for the I-129F, but it is 2 or 3 months after their NOA1 for their I-130.

2. I also suspect that it may have something to do with where the beneficiary lives. If it is a place where they do not suspect much marriage fraud, then they quickly scan the petition and approve it. But if it is a place where thy suspect alot of fraud, they spend more time on it. For me, for example, My wife lives in Buenos Aires. There are very few people in Argentina who petition for family based visas. (Which is something that me and my wife have discussed as to why this is.) So they would suspect less fraud and process it quickly.

3. There are some parts of the world where they may do more security checks on, which will make it take longer.

4. Now, what I do not understand is people who live in a country where they approve quickly but in their case, it takes a long time. I suspect their some people who take a very long time and say there is nothing different with their case, but they are not saying the whole truth. Possibly there is more to their case than they are saying. But this is only a theory!!

* Disclaimer - This is looking at CSC only. I have no idea what is going on at VSC.

But I think that you guys should be approved shortly. It looks like the average for K3's is 2 1/2 to 3 months and the CR1's are an average of 3 to 4 months.

can i ask what is MENA? don't wanna sound stupid.. hehe

i think it has to do with the beneficiary country too, steve.. the Philippines, i guess, is notorious for fraud in EVERYTHING, not just marriages! that is very sad to say but that's how it has always been..

i only recently applied for citizenship, despite living in this country for 18 years, since i was 11.. (been putting it off cuz i don't know why.. maybe i like carrying my green card around everytime i travel..) anyway, my security checks should only take like 1 minute since they already checked me out for the naturalization and my passport. but, i don't know about my husband.. do they do security checks on him too? if they do, then that's what's going to take a while.. see, his grandpa, his dad and his brother are all named the same name.. i don't understand it either.

after i filed the I-130, i looked at the timelines and to see what the difference is between the CR1 and the K3 for the Philippines.. it wasn't much.. but now, every little day and week and month is counting. just really tired of waiting, ya know..

about month without any touches makes me a sad panda :crying:

this website says there processing 05/02/2008 I-29Fs at VSC, so I hope as soon as possible!

i haven't had any touches since May, shenxu, except for that address change but i made them do that.. but then, you have been waiting longer than me! ok, you may cry.. hehehe.. but ya never know.. you could be next! sometimes, touches are nothing.. you just need that ONE last touch and then your approval letter.

Sadly Morocco is the same...but now that my husban is working in Spain I hope it helps prove he isn't using me for a visa

We are ok with this part as he is the only one with his first and last name... we even did a google check. We both were hoping me having been in the U.S. Army would help us if they're checking me too

the Philippines doesn't have DST either but we do :) we have been together for almost 7 years now, married only 6 months. but the whole "i need to hear your voice 5x a day" doesn't seem to matter anymore. haha! but i do text him about a billion times a day. we talk about 3-4x a week, if he's awake and i'm awake. usually since i work nights, it's days over there, our schedule works out. because when i get home i sleep during the day, he sleeps also since it is night there for him..

i bought vonage and brought it over there, just pay the monthly here.. so he can call me anytime, on my cell, house phone, or work, it's free for him.
