Hello, fellow VJers, I need your opinion.

Started preparing my package for I 751 ( I am the CR, my husband is the US citizen). This is what we have:

- joint 2006 and 2007 tax returns

- statements of joint checking accounts

- copies of our banking cards corresponding to our checking accounts

- statements of our savings account

- health insurance and pharmacy discount cards showing a joint policy

- copies of 2 envelopes addressed to both of us

- copy of a bill on both of our names

- cell phone bills showing both lines on one name

- notarized affadavits of support from my father in law, mother in law and 2 friends stating our relationship and marriage

- photos of both of us

We do not have lease or mortgage papers, nor utility bills, because we live in an apartment that belongs to my husband's aunt who has Alzheimer. My father in law administers her estate and in his notarized affadavit he also explains our living situation. He was also our sponsor during my process of obtaining conditional residence. We also included in the package a cover letter, explaining this.

Do you think this is enough? I am starting to lose sleep thinking I have to deal with INS again and we are not using a lawyer, so I am trying to get everything right.

Any advice is highly appreciated.

Thank you and good luck to all who are still waiting.

yeah your package looks great....

there is a recommended list on the top of this section from the VJ administrators....

if you haven't read it, take a look

as for us we always create a cover letter on the top listing all the contents, this is to help out the adjudictor, there are ppl for and against it saying its not needed...

but we have always done it, you call really......

You seem to have enough proof but who knows what the examiner is looking for. Don't worry about it - you can only send what you have and you have done it including the explanations that you are sending. I think you will be OK. Good Luck

First of all thank you to all of you who answered me You guys are great

We have decided to include a cover letter stating the contents, item by item. We thought that, although it might not be necessary, it can't hurt. When it comes to INS, less is not more :)

We have copies of my greencard (front and back) and both DLs with the same address.

Our 3 months frame for sending tha package starts June 19th and we are filing at VSC.

I will come back and post our timeline after we send of the package, June 20th.

Thank you, I feel much better after your feedback.

Will be back with timeline in June, hopefully things will go smooth.

This is what we sent and highlighted this on a cover letter to make it easier. I used a ACCO Fastener on top, separated every section with a blank page and added a tab at the bottom of that page identifying the section. A bit overboard but believe me, makes their job easier than having them check every page.

• I-751 application with attached check for $545.00.

• Copies of our apartment lease (2007-2008) and (2008-2009).

• Copies of car insurance notices (2006-2008).

• Three sworn affidavits by U.S. citizens. One from friend, two from family members attesting to our relationship and marriage.

• A copy of our joint US Federal tax returns and W2's (years 2005, 2006 and 2007).

• Copies of our driver licenses.

• Copies of checking account check and three checking account statements (years 2006, 2007 and 2008).

• Copy of wife's two year green card.

• Copy of wife's passport (maiden name).

• Copies of wife's Macy's credit card statements.

• Copy of 401K beneficiary statement.

• Copy of our health insurance cards.

• Copies of itineraries/tickets about trips taken together.

• Copies of junk mail.

• Copies of family/friends' invitations to events together.

• Copies of Suffolk Community College registration bills (2006-2008).

• Envelope with pictures with family and friends.

Hope this helps!!

Sounds really neat and organized. We used paper clips for different sections and stuck a post it note on each section, describing the content (e.g. copies of bank statements, notarized letters of support, etc)

Our tax returns have a lot of pages so i stapled together the ones corresponding to the same year. I also highlighted our names wherever they appear together and wrote my name and A# on each and every single piece of paper that goes into the package. Call me paranoid, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I am afraid something might get lost and it would be easier to trace it back to our file this way.

Also, someone said "90 days not 3 months". My greencard expires September 19. I thought we could send the package as of June 19. Am i wrong? I don't want to get it back. Should I actually count the days backwards?

I didn't send the entire tax returns, just the front couple of pages that showed that we were filing jointly and the signature page.

As far as the 90 days, I know there is a calculating website somewhere which counts the days for you. I believe you'd have to wait a couple days since Jun 19 - Sept 19 would be more than 90 days due to having 31 days in July and August.

Thank you. You're probably right, so I'll just count the days. Thank you.
