I-130 Adjudicated, what's next?

I filed the I-130 for my wife with the US Embassy in Rio de Janeiro on April 13, 2008. The immigration officer adjudicated our I-130 on the same day during the first interview. The immigration officer informed us that we will receive our instruction packet in (2) two weeks in the mail and would receive an email link to where we can find information about documents needed for the interview. The immigration officer informed us to gather all the documents in the instruction packet and call to the US Embassy and request an interview date. It has been (4) four weeks as of May 12, 2008 and we have not received the instruction packet in the mail or an email link. Is there something we need to do, form and/or document the US Embassy need before the instruction packet can be mailed to us? What is the next step in our immigration visa process?

Are there any USC/Brazilian couples that have filed a I-130 (Direct Consular Filing) with the US Embassy in Rio de Janeiro? Or someone who know about the direct consular filing here in Rio de Janeiro? We are getting very nerves about our status. We have not received a case number. We guessing it will come in the instruction packet. Is the this correct or should we call the US Embassy for a case number because our I-130 has been adjudicated? What should we do? Your advice and help would greatly appreciated.

Sounds like something went lost in the mail from them to you! I would definitely give the embassy a call. The case number comes in the instruction pack, what we call Packet 3 here in the forums.

Thank you so much for your respond. We will give the US Embassy a call tomorrow. We have found the information about what is needed for the interview on the US Embassy in Rio de Janeiro website. We have everything except the police certificate from my wife's hometown of Brasilia. We hope to obtain the medical examination along with the police certificate by the end of the week. Should we wait until we get the police certificate and medical examination before we call or call now? Should we tell the US Embassy about our documents and pending documents? Glad you found the info. I would apply for the police certificate now, but do not wait to call. When you call, just tell them when you gave them the I-130 and that you were told you would receive something in two weeks but have not received anything yet after four weeks.

I called the US Embassy yesterday and found out that our petition is still going through clearance. Does it usually take 4 weeks or more for petition to go through clearance? The immigration office said they should expect to hear something next week. They will send the instruction packet 3 once the clearance has been done. She said, we would receive an email with a case number and link to were we can find a list of documents needed for the interview. She said, the interview can't be made until we return DS-230 part I and DS 2001, ONLY AFTER CLEARANCE HAS BEEN DONE. We have these documents ready to go. We are thinking about calling USCIS and see if clearance has been done and see if we can get some information or possible case number. What do you think? We appreciate your advice.
