Review section about Attorneys

Sorry if i have posted this on the wrong forum. Im sure it will be moved if need be lol

Just a query here. As there are sections on this website about reviews for Embassy's and POE's. Would it be a good idea for a review section for attorney's? I know a few Vj's members have used attorneys, and going by some posts on here not many say a good word about them.

I know from time to time people ask the question " Can anyone recommend a good attorney?" and they just the mainly get the answer "You dont need one, do it yourself"

If we had a section about attorneys, people could put in there experience's with them, whether they were good or bad, value for money and obviously the name of the firm. Some sort of feedback for other users who wish to use an attorney.

Thanks

It might be better as an "opt-in" for lawyers rather than people here just posting. I am greatly concerned that people can or would post information that would not be reflective of the entire story. If a lawyer opt's in we can at least verify the basic information. Also it might be prudent if this ever were to happen to limit "reviews" to a series of very clear questions. Items like "did they process my case fast" can lead to problems as some people could have complicated cases and not realize it -- thus they may blame a lawyer when it is the case complexity that was the real problem. It would be a fine line to walk although it could work if done right. I respect lawyers as a whole and want to make sure anything that we did was done right for people here and them too.

I like the idea a lot but I can see the Captains concerns with it.

How about we come up with a form/questionaire to fill out with questions about the lawyer/lawfirm and the overall experience, like

-What was your reasoning to consult a lawyer?

-How long did you have to wait for an appointment?

-Did youget a free consultation?

-Did the lawyer contact you for new info or did you have to call for updates?

-Was the lawyer able to resolve your problems? If no, what was the reason according to you/according to the lawyer? (Not sure about this one)

...

...

...

And then a small section for more details, personal thoughts and maybe an overall rating from 1-10 or so.

I think a forum for lawyer info/reviews would be nice but should be kept as objective as possible.

Whatever the course, remember this: 99% of all attorneys give the rest a bad name. Ha!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
