I mean they are two yes/no questions in 33a so what should I put no/yes or is it no/no.

and what for 33b. should be no or yes. let me know

Chintan,

33a is No/Yes

33b is Yes

Your confusion is because who fills this form. All forms start with "I" are from USCIS and it is filed by the petitioner and all forms start with "DS" are from Dept. of State and is filled by the beneficiary, for the case of IR1/CR1 or K-3.

Are you clear now ? :star:

Just to update everyone - here's the latest with Neetu:

She called the VFS office and they weren't particularly helpful. She then called the Embassy helpdesk (where the gentleman has been pretty good) and asked a few questions about what she needed to submit to the VFS and what fees were still pending that she had to pay, etc etc ...

She was told that she only had to pay the courier fee at the VFS because she had already submitted all required original documents to the NVC - in fact, the gentleman said that despite the "rule" that you have to wait until 15 days prior, since she had already submitted her original documents and was only paying a fee, that she could even do that early ... He did tell hSo maybe she'll try that out ...

He did not tell her anything about another copy of the DS-230 or anything like that ... She also asked about taking her proof of relationship to the VFS and the gentleman recommended that she bring it to the interview ... However, she was told that CD's are not allowed (a lot of our pics and, of course, our wedding video, are on CD/DVD) - she will make due with photos, albums, and all other things that we have (letters, emails, phone records, receipt from Goa/other hotel) ...

As for the medical, she went to the Dr's office in the evening and got a physical exam using my scanned letter for her interview date :) (she hasn't gotten hers yet, but I would assume it'll be there before Saturday) ... The Dr said that she should come back for some labwork, 3-4 shots for vaccinations, and a chest xray on Saturday morning and that a report would be ready for her a couple days after that ...

Her last day of work is FRIDAY - so she's free after that ... Looks like she won't have much to do when she's at home - so she can enjoy her time with her parents and do some packing ;)

Hope that's helpful, guys ...

Looking at the timelines for VSC, and based on my timeline, it seems like my petition will be converted to IR-1/CR-1 (not sure which, we've been married for 20 months now) Is this a good guess on my part? I have to go way back to see a K3 approved at VSC. Looking at your timeline it seems like IR-1/CR-1 is the way to go. Also, my I-129F was filed a month after my NOA1 for the I-130. You seem to be the authority on this. :)

Done for 3 years or 10 years. Haven't decided yet.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Thanks for help. I just mailed the DS 230 to my wife in india via regular certified mail for $15. As fed ex/Dhl/ups is giving me a quote for $60 for delivery on mon june 23 2008 and via regular mail will take i6 business day to reach which will be mon or tue or next week.

My other question is :

I have mailed the DS230 to wife for her to sign it and mail it back. is it necessary for PCC to be submitted with the DS 230 docs or can I submit it later and when they ask for it. As the PCC porcess in Surat Gujarat will take at least 10 days to complete, As she will be going to start the PCC porcess next week,

And my mailed DS 230 documents will be received by her by Tuesday of next week the latest and she can mail it back to me the next day via regular mail which I should get in 8-10 days. by then my I-864 would be reviewed by NVC and then I would only have to mail in DS 230 to NVC withou the PCC.

Chintan, you need PCC with your DS-230 package. Otherwise NVC may send you RFE as checklist. If you don't respond to that, they will send a second checklist after a month or so. Then your case will be forwarded to the consulate without PCC. So, ultimately you might lose couple of months in NVC itself. Now, you can decide

Chintan,

My advise to you regarding PCC is to start now. Since i am from Ahmedabad, Gujarat and it taking too much time for my husband to get. So ask your wife to start the process now if possible.. i am not sure, how much time it takes in Surat.

Good luck

Guys,

Here is my wife's VFS (courier office) office visit details. Probably, whoever from India may be interested to this post :star:

Fathima went to VFS office at Cochin and presented the following docs. VFS will send them to Channai U.S Consulate.

1) July 2008 Appoinment letter at Chennai U.S Consulate

2) Chennai Consulate email confirmation copy regarding unavailability of interview appointment letter

3) Her Passport copy

4) Courier fee Rs.365 (The address for passport delivery changed to her hospital address. This is different than the one on DS-230. Since it is operated 24x7 and there is direct delivery, we didn't want to lose the day)

5) Completed DS-230 (This is in addition to the submission to NVC)

6) 2 Passport Photos (This is in addition to the submission to NVC)

7) Completed SSN Form

8) Stars and Stripes Lounge fee Rs.400 for 2 persons (One for her and one for her mother)

VFS gave her the receipt and coupons for the lounge. Some of the above documents are part of Packet 4.

Stars and Stripes Lounge is an air conditioned lounge, 5 min. away from Chennai U.S consulate. Applican't relatives can wait there. It has snacks and beverages bar. There is a shuttle bus every 30 min. from lounge to the consulate. Also, after the interview, applicant will be picked up from the consulate by the shuttle bus. I think it is worth to get the lounge. Also, applicant can keep their additional baggage there.

She is all set at VFS office now. Now proceeding to medical to Chennai next week. She had most of the vaccinations on her blood test done at their hospital, except very few. Waiting for antibody result tomorrow for those. If it is negative, her parents will give boosters to them.

Hope this helps out :star:

Good luck guys

Well, today My AOS fee showed as PAID!!! So I printed the Barcode sheet and I will send in the I-864 today. Also as far as the K3, today I also received the email for the Packet 3.

And it is a very good thing for us that things are progressing so fast!!!! My wife told me that she thinks that she is pregnant!!!! She said she did 2 home pregnancy tests and they were both positive. She has an appointment at the doctor tomorrow to confirm!!!! I guess when I visited her last month, it was a very good visit!!!

That's cool Steve, so you made it so early, huh  No patience to reach the U.S, just kidding  Nevertheless, the baby will be U.S citizen and will be born here :dance::dance: Update more :star:

Good luck to your speedy NVC process  I think you should hold K-3 path. What do you think ?

Did anyone try paying online recently via this link: https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

I called NVC today asking for my IIN and the operator told me she would give me the IIN but the online payment system is down. I don't know if it just went down now, or that it was never working?

She said you could try using it but can't guarantee it will work.

I will try anyway, but wanted to hear other peoples experience using the Online Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center
